ok, i had a forced auto today from about 30 feet with no headspeed on my spectra because of this. I was doing a few 1 second full collective climbs to see how the tune was on the high speed needle, when the engine quit. i know on the nitros, it will hesitate or quit during the climb if it is too lean doing this, but this engine quit when it was transitioning back down, maybe a second or so after i let off the collective. would this be the high speed or low speed needle? after 1 tank of hovering about, the plug was a medium brown color, so i think that the low is ok.

Any help?

Forced_Induction,

I'm sure that Raja will tune in, but I would richen the hi about an 1/8 and see if the hesitation stops. If it gets worse, lean the high out no more then an 1/8.

I assumed that your engine was warmed up when you did this and you had pumped the primer bulb at least 10 times to get the air out of the fuel lines. If either are not true then don't change anything anything and try again with the two items completed.

My bird will hesitate usually on the first loop or roll if the engine isn't at temperature or I forget to purge the fuel line of air. It can even happen after doing that, but it never quits, just gives you more pucker.

Put the felt clunk in and say goodbye to hickups on the first loop!

OK go figure. I flew 15 flights this weekend and not one burp. I was doing loops rolls, stationary flips and some up high inverted flight on top of loops without a peep from the engine.

I did however almost have the engine quit when a real good pilot was showing me stationary rolls. He was sitting there doing them one after another and at about the 6th roll the engine started to die. He went upright and it was fine. I haven't changed my tygon in the tank for three seasons so I suspect that the line is no longer flexible and it got out of the fuel. The tank was only at 1/2 a tank. I'll have to buy some new tygon and put it inside the tank.

Are you using any "soft" tygon tubing. I've got some very flexible tubing on the turbine and have no idea where to get it. I'm not sure where it came from or what it is called but it is sure flexible and so far has been kero safe.
