Was wanting everyone's input on these two birds. Which would you buy if had to pick and why?

Owning an Aurora, having ordered a 2nd one and having seen and worked on several 700n at my club... here's what I can tell...
Having taken close look at both helis, the Aurora is something from the upper class (almost no plastic, carbon, metal, thin frame)...
The 700n is cheap, flies great but hey taking a look at the frame (huge!) compared to an Aurora's one, I just consider it as UGLY!
Take a look at the new Vibe 90SG, the frame is also sexy as hell... (yes I do like a lot thin frames such as the Stratus ones... even that one is sexier than the 700n one)
Alright, some are complaining about several issues... I don't have any doubt about those ones (even the 700n have some, I've seen them with my own eyes!)... but the kit I've got don't have any... period.

you want sexy go synergy, you want simple go synergy, if you want a vast inventory of upgrades go synergy, but my 2nd choice align 700 , 3rd is aurora.

Well coming from a guy that ONLY flies synergy, I think that is biased. Jim you have not actually OWNED and OPERATED a Aurora or a 700. You really have to OWN one for a while to actually have a full "proper" opinion. I have not owned a synergy and would not tell someone something about one without actually having one. Flying someone else's now and then does not count.
Anyway asking a question like this will get you a million opinions. Usually you will see bias based on what someone is flying. Might be better just to ask: "Those that have an aurora, what do you like and don't like about it". Then go to the other forums and ask the same question for that heli. You could probably build a good pro's and con;s list from that.
BTW I read ISSUES comparison post and nice write up!

all my opinions are biased towards what is currently in my garage. I have grown very fond of the N9 due to its simplicity and smooth flying habits, the aurora is a bit intimidating for a person (like myself) who wants to keep it simple. the trex , is another trex just like all the other trex's, it flies great is simple design but everyone has one.just my opinion.

Aurora prettiest thing ya ever saw. i love mine cant say to much about the 700 never flew one. the 700 is a WHOLE lot cheaper to fly and repair. Parts are everywhere the aurora expensive not alot of places carry parts.

The E-treme 90 is an awesome machine from RJX.
I love the Trex 600N, Trex 500 and now the Extreme 90.

I've had the same dilemma and my solution was quite simpel, if Lucas Riva wins 3DM with a 700N there will be nothing I cannot do with it
+
-It is a whole lot cheaper
-parts are available all over the world.
-it is a much easier build/rebuild
The Aurora does look nicer though :smokin:

I have worked on the Synergy N9 for a friend, well rebuilt it for him and would have to point out that I do not like the servo lay out at all. I think that all .90 size heli's should use push-pull linkages to the head. The Main gear and tail gear drive system though are a very nice lay out and I don't know why more heli manufacturers don't use such a lay out, As has been stated, it really needs a few upgrades right out of the box and this isn't saying much for the cost.
My brother has teh Avant, so I have worked on it as well. His kit had a couple issues that were easy to resolve, but I thought that was the reason it took 3 years to deliver? He just crashed it yesterday, Wonder how long it is going to take for him to get parts to rebuild it. It is a very sexy machine though and has set-up options in the head to make any heli pilot happy. You can go from very mild to extremely wild set-up just by changing the linkages. The only thing that I am not liking about the Avant is availability issue.
My choice....
Trex-700. bang for the buck can't go wrong. The two shops locally that have heli parts have Trex parts and lots of them. A friend and I were talking about how many flights we have on my 600N and think that the 700N would be just as much of an old faithful heli. I have heard that it is the lightest of all these and can get blown around a little in the wind and depending on what you want to use it for this could be an issue.
But in the end, it would come down to parts availability, and Align has taken care of that. It may be just a blown up 600N with some upgrades, but it will hang with the big boys.

I would say this flys like no other that I have flown. Granted Ive only been flying the Align stuff. Still the way the Aurora feels in the air is something else. As my brother has stated it can be set up for stable and be set up for wild. I was running mine on Active and have to tell you that it is very stable on active and can be an animal on active as well.
As far as parts go for the Aurora well down side is that you have to mail order them unless you live around RC Direct or HeliProz. Those are the only two shops that I know of stocking parts for this heli at the moment. Both shops seem to have parts in stock most of the time unless someone has had a mishap then they may be sold out. I have talked with John at RC Direct and he was telling me that he will be getting in more parts really soon.
Crash cost well I dont know I would say that the 700 is cheaper, then the Aurora and N9 but there are some pretty pricy parts on the 700 as well but you normally get two for one on that stuff.
Bang for the buck 700 Like my brother said you want Sexy and Bling Aurora then N9 I would say all three are good helis but the 700 for cost and replacement parts will have both of these helis hands down.

I dont like the Synergy, in fact I have just sold mine to make way for the 700 and am more than happy with it over the Synergy. Saying it is just like other Trex's doesnt really make sense, after all how many other helis have Avant or Synergy RC made?? If they had then they would all be like the others. Yes the lack of push pull on the Syn bothered me too, always felt that the servos had to work too hard.
I still love the looks of the Aurora and if I thought the only thing that would make me crash was things beyond my control then I would have one. However while I still posess dumb thumbs the 700 will do me fine.
