I just got a great deal on a very nice Fury Expert. I was told that this helio can be upgraded to a Fury Extreme with a few replacement parts.

Is this true?

If it is, does anyone know what parts are required or a link to a good source?

Thanks!

just need.. longer main shaft ; m/shaft lower bearing block ; longer boom and drive tube; different blade axle and thrust bearings ; metal tail gearbox ; to fit a 90 you'll need different carbon gear spacers , new main gear and a 90 !!!! extreme has a metal fan too ....

I did the mod to my expert , flew it with a 70 for a while , then put a 90 in it , was ssssooooo good , i got an extreme as well !!!

Even though Peter is right, you really don't need to perform all those upgrades to put a 90 on your heli. I have helped and seen many people put 90's on their Experts. You only need the side doublers (carbon plates) for the appropriate gear ratio, a new pinion and possibly main gear (if you go YS-91, you only need a new pinion), some shims to line up the motor correctly (you might need to buy engine mounts depending on the type of mounts you have).

I would also upgrade the tail as I wouldn't want to fly a 90 with a plastic tail case. You can buy the open tail upgrade for $149.00. All the other upgrades, such as longer main shaft, lower main shaft bearing, spindle with new bearings, etc. can wait :)

Been a while since I figured up all the parts required to convert an expert to a true Extreme. But I believe the cost is over $400.

Or this gear box

8.18 ratio kit OS 91

8.45 ratio kit YS 91

The above parts are basically what you need to make an Expert an Extreme. Yes it is suggested to get one of the gear boxes above. The plastic gear box is not going to hold up as well to the power of a 90 and a gyro like the GY 601.

For 400$ you might as well by an extreme. A good used extreme with no engine can probably be picked up for 500-600$.
