I *think* the T-Rex 500 and the Hurri 550 share the same main shaft size at 8mm. I was just wondering if anyone has tried the Trueblood leveler for the 500 on their 550. I haven't a clue how similar the swashplates are in size, so maybe the feet on the leveler wouldn't line up right. Comments?

I believe they are the same but I didn't want to chance the swash plates being a different size. Ended up going with a 550 swash leveler from Helidirect. http://www.helidirect.com/product_info.php?products_id=6212

I have used one of the Trueblood levellers - but I can't remember whether it is a 500 or 600 - I'll see if it says later. Very useful for getting your EPA set as well as a flat swash - you obviously want a flat swash throughout the range of movement

I bought a 600 swash leveler and it was for a 10mm shaft and larger swash plate. Had to send it back.

Swash levels are for chumps. I just use my eye! Probably explains some of my problems. :)

LOL...I'll admit to being a chump. I even used the 10mm swash height tool on my 450, but she'll hover hands off...for a short bit anyway. I've tried using my eye and even though I'd consider my sight to be good, I still found my swash tilting a bit to one side with the leveler.
I'm a goof for not noticing the leveler on helidirect. Thank you!

I'm even lazier. I have a swash leveler for my 450s but too lazy to take the head off to use it. :)

I think if you look, the Helidirect 550 leveler has the same part number as the one they have listed for the T-Rex 500. IIRC the 550 leveler arrived and said it was for a T-Rex 500 and I thought they'd sent the wrong unit as I couldn't figure out what to do with it initially (take the head off, DUH!). Nice, cheap, works great and I found all KINDS of issues throughout my travel I'd have never found with just an under-neath the swash type rig...

I use the zero alignment tool from ReadyHeli. Sets level and swash height at the same time.
IMO, MUCH better than the over the shaft style.

The only thing with that is you don't see what's happening during the travel.....I was REALLY surprised to see far off each servo was at the both ends of travel....the over the shaft allows you to take out the interaction using end point adjustments....
it really is a slick tool.....does it make my flying any better....NO....just something else to tinker with....
Actually a combination of the two would be a good set up...

I agree, the under the swash type doesn't show you want your servos are doing while moving up or down and mine Servo Endpoints were completely screwy and WAY OFF! Before I got the tool I couldn't figure out why it was flying like it was, once I did my setup I was shocked to see how far out my adjustments were and I had to really tweak to get them all tuned and traveling equally throughout. It made quite a difference, and this reminds me I need to check them out again while I'm moving over to my new frame...
The combination would be cool for sure, humm, yet another gadget I need to acquire. :)
Happy Flying!

I went with the old eyeball it leel at first as I read a lot of opinions that said you didn't need the swash leveling tool. My first flights I couldn't keep the Heli in one place, It wanted to wander all over the place so I got the swash tool and what a difference, the swash was close but definately not level at mid stick and then I needed to adjust end points for neg and pos, travel. After adjusting it with the tool it was a completely different heli hovered great with just small amounts of input, as opposed to almost chasing it around before using it

+1 Herman and I'd assume most folks who took the time to do a good setup with the swash tool are at 0 sub trim. It really does work, even if you're a chump. :YeaBaby:
