I've seen that someone has done AP with a T-rex 450 but has anybody done AP with a Mini Titan?

Im workin on it now...
This setup has only hovered - got OK vid from it. Very smooth.
Im waiting for parts to arrive to convert the power system to the 6s Outrage G5 - and swing 350mm blades.

Hi Ben,
looks nice - is that a Canon G9? If so you havent choosen the smallest and lightest camera!!
How can you run 350 blades?
Would you mind sharing your setup?

Hi Tritan,
At the moment its nothing special. It wont be flown until Its completed, I still have a bit of work to do on the mount, bar a full redesign.
I have 14mm dia carbon tube on the way to extend the tail boom - Ill use the longer tail belt from the Cobra kit. That will let me swing 350mm blades.
I have metal parts for the Titan head on order to take out the slop. ( the Blade 400 head is on there in that photo, but I have swapped them back now )
In the next few weeks I have to get a Hyperion charger for 6s batts, then I will put the Outrage G5 6s 1300mah batt on there with the Outrage 1600KV motor and HobbyWing Pentium 40A speedy. It should be interesting to see how viable that setup is for AP of this size.
Yeah, the G9 is a brick. Originally I intended it to be used on a larger ship (600+ size) but I want to see if it can be done on a 450 size, at least until the Pentax Optio S12 comes out.

I already did this... i converted my trex450 into an HDX frame and put the outrage G5 tail boom, belt, motor, esc, and main blades on it. i have the outrage 6s battery and it flys great! i could post some pics if you would like to see my setup...

Hi Chez,
Thats Great! are you doing AP with it? What flight times are you getting?

about 6.5 min on an outrage 6s 1300. i can get about 7.5 on 2 mystery 3s 1500's in series. here are some pics, and i have an onboard video about to be posted on youtube. stay tuned... i need to work out the vibs though and it was kind of windy so be kind when you see it... this is my first video that i have shown anyone... i did not have downlink system on it, just record and fly around... still, it is what it is.

Wow Chez, That is incredible!
Great to hear the power system is really working out - I have been thinking about trying 3 X 3cell 800mah batts to see what would happen..... Might be interesting.
I have my MT apart while re working the camera mount, going for an under slung version.
Great stuff, I look forward to the video!

Are you going to run them in parallel? if you ran them in series you would get a 9s pack. the outrage G5 motor could only handle up to 6s. if you ran them parallel that would be a 2400mah 11.1v battery. for the price of the outrage motor and esc vs the price to run 3 batteries i would think it would be better to upgrade, or just get one 2200mah 11.1v lipo. with the extra weight though, you need a higher C rating because of the extra amps it will be pulling. THAT is why I went to 6s. what size blades are you using? i could not get enough lift using 315mm with the stock Align Motor, so I went to the 325mm. That still was not enough to help get me out of trouble if i needed that little extra punch, which is why I did the stretch to 350mm. I am very pleased with how it is performing... I need to fine tune it though. I am still working out the settings with the Spartan AP2000i, and I might be getting a HeliCommand unit in the near future, but for now I like the way it flys. I am publishing the video to youtube right now... it will be up in a few min.

Hi Chez,
I was thinking of running 9s 3p. I hadn't researched it or fully thought it through yet, but I am assuming it would run a suitable motor and besc (CC 45 HV).
When I get that kind of spare coin Ill give it a go. I'm betting that higher volts low amps is the way to go for long flight times.
I have a set of 350mm G5 FG blades, but after testing I will invest in a set of carbon 350mm's as the FG blades are quite heavy.
I have flown with the AP200i and it did a good job, but I would not be comfortable using it around residential areas, IMO the helicommand is the way to go for stabilization.

i want to get a set of the rotortech 350 blades as well as the semi 600mm blades... i think 9s would be insane... i am not sure there is a motor that could handle 9s in a 450... the trex 600 motor only goes up to 6s... i would like to know what you come up with and what you find... i think the G5 motor and esc is more than enough... if you are going to spend that much on a motor and esc, you might as well get the bigger bird to go with it... ;) i agree with you about the Spartan... i have flown it over houses in my community and it is a little scary. i wish i had the money for the helicommand. if youtube ever shws my video i will post a link to it...

Maybe it would be worth checking out some low KV airplane motors, whether or not it could handle the volts would be another story, it would be worth it as an experiment with a cheapy.
In a few weeks I should have some coin to waste on an experiment of this type - TBH Im looking forward to it :D

Awesome Chez!
Feels good to get it happening aye!
That was a lot of flight time! What were the cell voltages after that flight? It seems there is a bit of lateral vibration - are the blades balanced?

Parts are starting to dribble in - seems the postal system in Australia is pretty slack.

Almost finished the MT build, had a few issues with vibration during cyclic changes but fitting an all metal head and new links sorted that out. Here's a pic of it mocked up, final positioning isn't final yet.

Hi, what do you use for deshaking? Looks good to me.

I use VirtualDub - if you want a copy google it or PM me. You need to get the deshaker plug-in for it too.

Very impressive looking software, deshaker, especially for zero cost, I am halfway thru my first pass now.
EDIT:
Here's my very minimal AP set up on Mini Titan:

Step 1, cut a hole in a scrap of viscoelastic foam
Step 2, tape the camera onto the foam
Step 3, tape the foam to the skids

Here's the latest incarnation of my Mini T.
Made a few upgrades... :D
Just pulled the batt off the charger, and for 4mins flying I put back 420mah out of a possible 1000mah available (80% rule). That makes exactly 105mah a min, which is slightly unbelievable considering the load.
Also, I found a photo of one of my earlier attempts at AP - thought I'd throw it up here.
