I have a Trex HDE. With the swashplate level when I go to takeoff it wants to roll forward. No lift just forward, the back wants to lift though. I tried to adjust the trims to get it to lift level. It helps very little. Also is the long boom better or short boom.

Need few questions answered.

What radio you have?

Does the swashplate remain level from low stick to high stick?

How well is the heli balanced fore/aft?

Radio is a FUTABA 6EX PCM and without blades spining it is level low and high. Balance I'm not sure about with out battery in I can pick it up by the head and it is tail heavy. But with battery in it sits pretty level.

Also Are the woodies better to start with versus fiber blades

I guess Its the trex HDE. I think I have it figured out. The head speed was too slow. I sped up the head speed and it seemed to lift with out all the rolling side to side and front to back. Any help on good main blades or tail blades. Still learning to fly.

John,

The HDE is mechanical mix from what I could tell looking at the specs. That is why I asked what radio he had and if the swash was level from low to high collective.
I figured he might have the radio in eCCPM mix mode.
I think he found the answer with the head speed.

The stock Trex wood blades seem to be fairly good and they are cheaper. I would suggest sticking to them till you get to the point your not crashing often.

Haven't broke any main blades yet. Just a tail rotor blade and have no clue how it happened it didn't hit anything. Are the fiber blades just as good to learn on. I have woodies and fiberglass. I'm starting to figure it out, I think.

Also sometime when I get it off the ground the tail starts wagging sometime. It sounds like it bogging the motor or vise vera. I have adjusted the gyro gain. And when it seems to be fixed it starts again. So I set it down and try it again and it stops. Tried tightening and looseing the belt. If it did it all the time it would be easier to fix.

As for the tail, remove the servo arm or the rod to the tail, whichever is easier..
Push and pull through the limits of travel and remove any and all binding.
This should help your wagging issue. Smooth is the key, no binding anywhere..
Tail rotor blades should not break on their own, you may have gotten a flawed set, or you didn't realize the hit.
The belt tension should be moderately tight at all times.

I was the one that asked you about the binding on tail slider. Probably don't remember all the threads you answer. And I smoothed it out with steel wool. everything is no binding now.

Is the tail wag gonenow that you steel wooled it savage? Sure helped a lot on mine. I also started with the belt to loose and it must have been slapping inside the boom and causing wag as well.

Woodies are fine to learn on with the TREX, and they fiiy fine until you start getting up to the higher headspeeds with hotter motors.

Keep us posted please.

I remember..now that you mentioned it.. You should have to adjust the gain up and down in about 5 point increments to get rid of the wagging. You will reach a point where the wagging is gone and the tail will not hold, you need to go back up about 10 points.
If it's not too bad, fly with it for awhile, and let the gearsets wear together, this usually also reduces wag/
If you have long blades, use long boom, its better for tail control no matter what.
Trim the chopper to hover... it will scoot around a little bit when you first lift off, then settle down.

I will try that. Thank you
