What happens to a tuned pipe when it gets dented? I'm just curious, since I just ordered an SB-18 and I'm a bit paranoid.

other than the obvious "it ain't pretty no more" answer, there will be reduced performance, exponentially impacted by the size of the dent. The larger/deeper the dent, the more it impacts performance.
If you get a dent in the muffler/pipe, you will be replacing more than just that, so try not to dent it in the first place, however a lot of dents can be 'frozen' out by filling with water, sealing the ends and sticking in the freezer. You have to watch it after the first hour or so, to make sure it does not expand too much and split the muffler.
Most small dents go untreated, you won't notice the performance issue.
