As most of you know I have just gotten back into the hobby. I have been flying some very old wood 620mm blades on my X-cell using 15% fuel. Decided to try some 30% and quickly found out that I could not get enough pitch into these short blades to keep the head from overspeeding.

That is the history... here is the question part... I have upgraded to the 31.5" boom and so now I can run some longer blades.

A: Will the longer blades help my overspeeding problems?
B: If so how long of blades should I get?
C: Which blades would be the best choice for Autos, hovering, light aerobatics... in that order.

If it helps I am running a OS RFN with a hatori 666 muffler(I think) with 30% fuel.

Thanks,
Todd

Yes the longer blades will load the engine so that it will not overspeed.
With the 31.5 inch boom. You can run up to 700 mm main blades with 100 mm tail blades with no problems.

For the OS 61 engine. I will suggest getting some 680 to 690 mm main blades.
Probably 680 will work the best . Get them in the 180-190 gram weight range. That should give you a good overall blade.

If you have the OS 61 RFN ( rear exhaust). I have only seen a couple of Hatori 666 mufflers used on them. This would mean the muffler is under the heli and below the engine between the skids. Botched auto will probably flatten the muffler.

The muffler might not be a hatori, it looks like a hatori 666, it is hooked up with a U-shaped header that puts the muffler in approximatly the same place it would be if it was a side exhaust engine.

Yes I remember those setups. MA use to sell a Hatori clone for the rear exhaust engine. So I would think that is one of the MA mufflers and headers.
