Curious to how much expo you guys are using, if any at all.

I'm a new flyer myself. Tried 30% was too scary to me, brought it down to 15% and it fell into place for myself.

I fly -30 on my 9chp
There is no right answer just what you like best

I think Evo's doing good with 15. 30 really freaked him. He's doing great for finishing up his first gallon.

As Tom has said, there is no right answer to this. EXPO allows you to tune the cyclic to better match your reflexes, to the helicopter. One thing that factors in to the EXPO number you settle on, is head speed. A fast head speed will allow a higher EXPO number than a slow speed. Also, new flyers tend to get " behind" the heli, so less EXPO sometimes allows them to catch up a bit. I tend to run a higher headspeed, 30% EXPO in JR speak, and 6-7º of cyclic pitch.

WOW Al that is a lot of cyclic ad Expo. I bet your heli is quick. :)

I will pull out my TX and see what I run today. I think so far no EXPO.

Expo is great. You 3D guys who like your ship set up tighter than a banjo string can really benefit from it.

On my Goldberg Matrix (sport plank), on high rates the control surfaces have MAJOR deflection. I run 70% expo there, just so I can fly halfway smoothly between square corners, etc.

I run between 20% and 30% on my helicopters, and the planks with normal control set-ups.

I agree it is a personal preference and feel!! I run 0% on cyclic and 65% on the rudder.

RickS reminded me! The Rudder. I forgot about that! I'm running 401/9253's with 18mm servo arms and the PIRO rate at 150% in JR speak. Plus 50% EXPO. This allows smooth when I want it, and wild when I need to be. Hi Steve, good to see you here!

i run 35% on the cyclic and 60% on the tail (big servo wheel and 150% in JR speak too), but i'm a thumb flier.

(PS: splel cheker is a niec addition, keep up the good work)

I run 25% on the Hornet 2 on cyclic and 0 on rudder.

I also run 15% on cyclic on my Raptor 50 using the MA white paddles, again 0 on rudder.

As mentioned it depends on your liking and what your comfie with. As note that + and - expo is dependent on the type of radio your using. Most set it for "Soft in the center."

mY FURYS ARE AT 10% EXPO IN FUTABA AND i RUN 6.5 DEG CYCLIC.

RECENTLY FLEW TOM'S E-RAVEN W/ ABOUT 30% AND IT MADE ME VERVOUS AS HELL- JUST FELT LIKE THE HELI WOULD NOT RESPOND OR THAT I WS JUST BEHIND ON THE STICKS. TO EACH HIS OWN. 8)

I'm a beginner.
I run 70% on the cyclic and tail. Folks have said "that's too much!" but I haven't had a problem with it.

It is all personal preference and the feel you want. I know a few pilots that use 90% expo. The only thing I suggest if you ever let someone else fly your heli. You inform them how much expo you have set before they fly it. Nothing like picking a heli up in a hover and thinking the transmitter is dead.

When I first started I ran around 20% well - on futaba now I'm on 0 . After reading some of the posts though I'm thinking of maybe throwing in a little and see if it is any difference. Sometimes I feel like I'm behind on the sticks.

David,

That happened to me and it scared the living hell out of me. I swear I thought the thing had a mind of its own and had no response to my controls.

Hey Al,

Which JR radio do you use? I could use some help setting up my 10X with a GV-1 on my Fury.

I used to run +30% (JR) then slowed my headspeed down and now run 0%.

Let me know if you can help me out.

Thanks,

Jeff

on both my rap 50 and rap 90 I run 15%(JR 8103) and tail rotor I run 35%(my left thumb twitches helps keep that tail in line)

But as most of the previous guys mentioned its should be tuned to your personaly taste.

Usually around 0 to -15 on my 9C.
Any higher and it just feels to soft,
although it is a very personal preference.

Take into account the blade and paddle setup really matters as well as the bell/hiller mixing ratio! On my 30's with stock paddles I use 0% expo, on my 50's with white MA paddles I use -22%

20-30% depending on the ship.
30% on my EVO for now (not enough time on it yet)
20% on my Fury.
Remember that EXPO only effects the area around center and for the most part you want only small slow movements in that area as you are making fine adjustments to the attitude.
One other thing to think about is the effect is has on the servos in a mechanical mixing system.
It will make your throw more "linear" by "slowing" down the servo a bit at the center and making the servo travel at close to the same rate throughout the entire range.
Did that make any sense. :D

The end product is still the same personal preference, but anything above 30% IMO is too dead on a heli and will bite you down the road.

I have a 9C. At the moment, I have +15%...

Positive Expo = ? (more touchy??)

Negative Expo= ? (less touchy??)

i'm kinda confused...
