Few hours ago I made my first flights with an operator (my girlfriend) who was moving around my askman mount. I fly a T-rex 600 with the stock set-up, excepted for the BEC and metal grips and tail.

My first impression after flying my mount is that a 360 mount is not as easy to fly because there are no skids to watch for levelling the heli. I have put orange balls (training skids) below the heli but I have to find something better.

Neither my downlink nor my Helicommand are installed yet, but I am in the process... I also have to build a case containing my LCD screen (to buy), my DX6i and my receiver.

My T-Rex will not be my dedicated AP heli, I am still hesitating between few bigger e-helis for next summer. A stretched logo 600? a Joker? Do not know yet...

What size of the 360 did you buy?

Put the green pool stuff on the heli and black or grey ones on the Askman mount skids....

Yes, I am planning to put darker stuff on the mount, but I do not think there are any black noodles. Is there a product I can use besides the pool noodle for the mount skids? For the heli, there is not much space between the mount and the bottom plate to put a noodle, I will have to use carbon rods or something similar.

Try use insulation foam, same as pool noodles, used for pipe insulation (hot & cold water). Here they are grey and available in all kind of sizes.

Instead of where you mount your heli landing gear, mount 2 straight carbon fibre tubes (horisontally). At the end of these CF tubes fasten the green noodles. Now the noodles rotate with the heli and the grey ones, which you dont want to concentrate at, are going with the mount.

Hopes this helps.

BTW, what do you think about the Askman mount, does it swing alot between the heli & mount?

Why do you need anything on the mount skids? Just leave them bare. That's what I did and put yellow noodles on the helicopter skids.

Somtimes the skids (CF) can get caught in the grass but with the noodles it gets smooth out.

Tritan: Thanks for your input. Gray noodles are now installed on the mount skids. I took my first photos two days ago and I am still working on my set-up but the mount seems to work great. I did not observe any big swing between the mount and the heli but since my photos are a little blurred, I may have to loosen (or thigten?) few screws or/and gimbals, so I will see later about the swing.

Do someone can give my a guideline about the minimal shutter speed I should be able to reach on my (G9) camera if the dampening is ok on the mount? Is it normal to get blurred photos 8 times on 10 or should my system give me sharp pictures almost all the time?

Few pictures of the heli: http://www.clubrcsherbrooke.com/rc/viewtopic.php?t=2506

On my Canon A650 it is rare that I shoot below 800 shutter speed.
Nice setup, video looks pretty smooth for just starting out.
What batteries are you using and what kind of flight times are you getting?

Jay: The quality of the videos from the G9 is very good, even better then with my almost new JVC Everio Camcorder. I was not planning to do videos this year but since I can record from the G9 while looking throw my downlink (just tested), I will give a try on (short) videos. When my helicommand will be installed on the ship, I think the videos will be better.

I fly the stock set-up with FP and TP 6S1P 5000 mAh batteries. I can fly for 5 min with the AP equipment (4.2 lbs, 100-95-90-95-100 throttle curve) whereas I can fly 8 min when doing sport flying. I think it is the maximum payload I can add on the stock set-up.

I am planning to buy a bigger e-heli for AP this winter, but I still do not know which one.

Wohou! I do not have any vibration problems anymore.

My father house is on the market, so I took few pictures of it (if it can help for selling)...
