I noticed two things today on my post flight check on the z30 hurri. After it spooled down, I noticed one of the ball link ends had a little bit too much play in it, so I swapped that out with a new one.

Next, I touched the tail spindle shaft and it was HOT. I put the heli on the bench to take a closer look. The bearing in the side of the tail case was fine, but it was spinning in the plastic housing. I cleaned it up and re-seated it with some ca and that did the trick. The next 3 flights, the tail spindle shaft was cool to the touch. It's not something that ever happen before, but i wanted to share the info with you fellow freaks.

Heheheh.. yeah Ben, it was the stock plastic tail case.
No squeal or vibration to give it away, i just happened to notice it and I'm glad i caught it before it turned into serious trouble.

... Hey, I've heard that's why they pay those male models the big bucks man.. :noteworthy ..no reading required, just all the chick$?:Bow

Good find !! it sems like we should all be checking the shafts and such once in a while....the OWB 's heat up when the bearings are going.....as I'm sure the tail drive shaft and main shaft bearings would....

I need to pay more attention after shut down and make these a regular post flight item...

Thanks for the info....

:YeaBaby: :) .. don't look at them as second hand parts.. look at them as "quality tested" parts that will actually work out of the box... ;) :cheers
