I am trying to remove my old grips to put new bearings and grips on. I was able to get the first one off no problem. Replaced it and now for the other side. I cannot get the nut to break free. It continues to spin the shaft and nut on the other side even while using a socket on that side. I did not buy this heli new, so my experience with them is limited. Are the threads opposite on the each side, or is there a trick to the trade that I am not getting?

Thanks,
Floyd

Most of the time you will need to grasp the shaft with vice grips or pliers to get the last one loose. Try to grasp it somewhere the bearings don't ride, and then you may have to file off the marks your pliers left behind.

I use the factory hole type grip made in ball link pliers, and I've only had one stubborn one leave a mark..

Use a keyless drill chuck to hold the end from which you have already removed the grip. It will hold and not leave a mark. Don't operate the drill. :D

Hey thanks guys, you all are great. I like the keyless chuck idea. Unfortunately I didn't see it before i used the ball link pliers. Even with a cloth under the pliers i bunged it up a bit it was a Very stubborn nut. I started to think I would have to heat it up to get it off. I did file it back out and flew today no problems. Thanks again for the advice.

Another way if you have vice is to use to blocks of wide and sandwich it in beween them. No marks left
