Hi All,
I am looking to purchase a Raptor 50 v2 and will set it up using the quick uk upgrades, having purchased from them before for an Eolo the quality was exceptional.
Where I need help is recommendations on servo and gyro choice. I have a JR 9xII and am considering using futaba servos and gyro. Will the two be compatible? i.e connectors etc.
It appears the gy401 and matched servo is popular choice for most and pricing is favourable compared to some of the jr options. How well do these units lock compared to higher priced units? ( bearing in mind a well set up heli is an important start point)
The choices for servos is also overwhelming, a point in the right direction here would also be appreciated.

Thanks Peter,
I will look at the hitec line up tomorrow. I have only ever owned JR gear since starting this hobby and never really looked at the options available as I have had no need to. Is there likely to be any compatability issues between the use of JR transmitter/receiver and another manufacturers servo?

There are no issues with using Hitec or Futaba servos on JR gear. I've never used JR servos on a chopper. Over many years and two tries at helis with 10X, 10 SX, and now a 9303, tho only real trick is to align the darkest wire on the servo leads while plugging into the reciever. If using all Futaba gear: GV-1, Gyro, servos, and Fail safe switch, I use an aileron extension to identify the orientation of the darkest wire placed in any position of the RX. after the first wire is placed, all others will have the same orientation, and the extension can be removed if not needed to extend to anything..

If you wanted to stay all JR you could use the 8231's or for more torque the 8311's.
I use the 8311's on my CCPM machines.
the 500T gyro and 8700G are a great combo.. I have two of these one on my stratus with a 70 and on my Xtreme 61. They are a great gyro the piro rate is more cosistant than the 401. And it holds better I can do vertical tail slides hands off.
I have a friend with the 811's in his 50 but he's not doing 3D yet I have flown it some and It's great. You can mix and match between JR and Futaba not problems with it you Gyro settings will be a little different than you friends that have Futaba..

Thanks Guys,
I had a JR servo fail on me recently and it has left a sour taste. Was out for the first afternoon after fitting a custom canopy and new MS carbons, looked awesome for all of about half hour until I came out of a nice big sweeping turn to discover I no longer had aileron. Customised the custom real quick.
Great advice, I will do some homework on your recommendations before parting with the dollars. :D
I have all jr stuff
500t 8700 combo and 8311`s on my raptor 50 and they work well for me.
sorry to hear about your bad luck ! :(
That why we buy the pants that we do

Cheers Carl,
I have not completely discounted the JR gear. Will just keep my options open at this stage. The 500t sounds like a popular choice for the gyro. Will look into that one further.
Good luck sorting out that vibe concern on your rappy, will be interesting to hear what the problem is once found.

what servo was it. the 537. That's an ok servo but with the stress of the new era of pilots any standard servo will probably give out with enough load put to it.
All servos have there falts Id say it's about equal on falures. for Manufatures. Choose what ever fell comfortable with I have had great luck and service from JR Equipment.
