I would like to buy a 30/50 canopy. I am not quite ready to buy a new glass painted one. I am still too new and would hate to ruin a pretty canopy.
regards,

There are soe inexpensive ones at www.Gohbee.com (http://www.gohbee.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=1275) you can paint up your own.

Jeff,
Do those canopies need to be sprayed or can they be hand painted? IF so what type of paint would be best. My fiancee could paint the canopy for me if it can be hand paintedd..

I dont see why you would not be able to brush on paint.
You would want to be sure to not get the paint on too thick or it will be to heavy and it may crack when you flex the canopy.
I would still get a good 2 part automotive clear coat sprayed on as the final coat no mater what canopy or paint you use.

I don't know about the fiberglass ones, but the "milk bottle" plastic Gohbee canopy is extremely thin and flexes if you breath on it! It would never hold up to paint.
SInce you're just starting out, just buy a stock raptor canopy and put stickers on it?
Painting the plastic ones is iffy at best. If you want to be different then get some vinyl from a sign shop and make your own stickers.

There are plenty of posts on how to paint plastic canopies.
The trick is to pick a system and follow the recipie, resist the temtation to combine several systems.
The canopy in my avitar is a Gohbee plastic canopy yes it is thinner and lighter in weight than a raptor canopy. Yes it is flexible. I think these are all good things.
I have crashed this canopy twice and the only paint problems are where the ground scuffed the paint.
Since it is you girl friend tht is doing the painting there is very little cost involved, so I would say goo for the paint job. Just keep the paint thin, or it will crack.
