instead of waiting for the new YS 50 or the new OS 50 I think I'm going to buy a Nova Rossi 50 (actually a 52 I believe) I hear they are more powerful than the (now available) OS 50, for $160 it sound good, so I was just wondering if anyone has any time with this motor, and if they could comment on it,,,, thanks !!

Get you some FAI fuel or 5% nitro fuel and a tuned pipe and you will be set. Shouldn't take too much time to get the pipe tuned to the engine. Nova Rossi makes some good engines, takes a bunch of fuel thru them to start seeing the power increase. Several gallons and they will start to come around.

thanks David, but I called "Planethobby", they are Novarossi's importer here in the US,,,
I was told the Novarossi 50 will NOT fit in a motor mount that is made for the OS 50,,, the Nova has a wider bolt pattern,,,
it looks like I will have to wait...

I have a NovaRossi C50H1 installed in my EVO50. It has only had 3 tanks run through it so far. But, it seems to run pretty good.
I did have to file the engine mount to get it to fit and slot the mounting holes to match the EVO mount.

NovaRossi and Rossi engines are for pilots that like stress. Because trying to get one to run correctly in a heli will make the stress level high. At least that has been my experience over the last 16 years. Here is the USA at events I can't say I have seen either NovaRossi or Rossi engines being used in a heli for the last ten years. And then it has been very very few. Maybe two or three at the most.
Yes the Rossi and NovaRossi are two different brands of engines.

Well, seeing as though the New NovaRossi heli engines just came out in Dec, it's kinda hard to find someone using one in the past ten years. Yes, they are finicky, but so is anything else you are going to put in your Heli, Plane or Car.
As for who the US importer is for NovaRossi engines, it's Fusion Motorsports. The owner used to work for Ron Paris, who used to be the original US importer.
Also, my C50H1 came with the engine mount for a Raptor, so it is a bolt and go engine for the Heli. There is a lot of RC car Technology in that engine. It is beefy, and has some wild internal mods that I have only seen in High Dollar RC Car engines. I'm very impressed with it so far.

Nova Rossi and Rossi heli engines have been available as long as I have been flying helis ( 1991). Yes they may have a new model of heli engine. But the engines have been available here in the USA for many years.

Rossi is a family name, one sibling did not like the way the older was conducting things, and NovaRossi was created. Circa mid 80's.
In my pylon racing and boat racing days either was fast, the edge went to NovaRossi for quicker breakin and power sooner.
Of course this was also in the day when to make an OS run right you had to put a Supertigre carb on it..
I'd be interested in seeing the latest and giving one some run time to see the difference now.

I want one baaaaad. 8.73@18,333 and 2100 on the head with a full-length tuned pipe. :)
One look at the internal engine pics on the website sold me. If it doesn't run well enough I'll get on OS carb on it.

I just idled an ounce through mine. It got a 60K carb and a Hatori 540. Idles better than my Hyper ever did and break-in flights are scheduled for Sunday!

Anyone know what glow plug I can use in a NovaRossi C50H2? Their website calls it a c6. I can't seem to find it anywhere. Will an OS 8 work?

OS 8 should work just fine, Enya 3 will do good too.

Anyone recommend a nitro% for break in on a C50H2? I am confused about how the manual describes and disects the fuel specs.. i have cool power 30% i use in my raptor but the manual seems to shy away from using a high nitro content in this engine.. Should i go to 15% or 20% for break in?
Also as far as the mixture adjustments, (another gray area in the manual), where should I begin with on the low and Hi? Are the adjustment knob directions similar to an OS 50 hyper?
Thanks guys! -Kyle

More like 5% to 10% nitro is usually what is needed to run in the Rossi engines.
