Default Question on rx blinking light

I have a friend who flew his blade today at the local field and he had a loss of control... ESC brownout issue?... and a not so bad crash... but anyway.. afterwards I noticed the 6100 blinking.. and after he reinitializing a few times it always is blinking... he can't remember if it always has blinked or not? Mine never has.

Hi,

Does he have the 1.6 rx version? If yes, than the blinking usually means QuickConnect happened after a brown-out. Maybe a cold solder somewhere?

Best,
Frank

Hmm.. could NOT having rebinded after he installed a HS65 on the tail cause the blink and possible brownout?

I doubt it, I didn't rebind after installing my hs65s, running the old 1.2 firmware and never had a brownout issue.
Has he over discharged his packs?
could be going into low voltage because the cells are damaged.

sometimes you can get away with not rebinding, but most of the time not..

Always better to rebind after making changes

He's good with his packs. It was only around 50 feet away and just went off on it's merry way before it hit. I'll talk to him.

I have NEVER re-bound. New HS-65s, G7703D gyro, 9650 on the tail, 35 amp cc speed control. Works fine. Always has. Maybe I'm living on borrowed time.

If the receiver has the firmware update: Blinking means it has detected a voltage drop of some kind, possible brownout, however if you change batteries and leave the radio on (I always do) it will detect that drop. So, on mine the first battery has a solid light on the receiver and all susequent batteries it has a blinking light, I tend to fly 3-4 batteries in a row.

Hi,

With all due respect, but rebinding does just two things:

- Tx sends a token to rx and therefore rx and tx will "find" each other going forward (i.e., you bind the rx to the tx).

- Tx sends start-up servo positions (all channels), and throttle channel fail-save position to the rx

So in essence, you can change rx components like servos, gyros or ESCs all day long, and not have to rebind at all. The reason being, there is no data feedback from the servos, gyro or ESC to the rx whatsoever.

From that perspective, once rx is bound to the tx the first time, you should not have to bind ever again.

Best regards,
Frank
