Has anyone tried to put two TP4200-10s2p packs into an Ion? The question is will they fit under the canopy?
I hope they do because that would make it possible for me use the same packs for my Logo 14 and the Ion.

Thanks

Mike

Aside from the possible dimensional issues, I'm sure the packs would fly it well and for a long time. But please, please be sure to change the wiring on your speed control for parallel'ed instead of series'ed batteries. If you dont' you may have to visit the eye doctor as I'm sure the flash will be visible from orbit.

Thanks Chris,

yes I know about the wiring. I need 10s4p instead of 20s2p. :) Flash wiring is not recommended. :D lol.. How about dimensional issues? The dimensions of one pack are 47mm x 200mm x 52mm. I can't check it with my own Ion because it is still in the box. But not for long.... I hope...

I've got a pair of 4200-10s2p. They are a perfect fit for the Logo14. If they would fit the Ion, I could purchase two more to have four packs. That would give me four packs for my Logo 14 or two sets for the Ion. I could save a lot of money running one type of batteries for both helis if you know what I mean....

Well, they may ba a little thick, but I think they will fit fine. Certainly the hieght and length are not a problem in any event.

And man, 10S4P of the 2100 ProLites!!!! Look out, that should have some grunt.

oh yes it is , about 10% more grunt than those 8880s , ad 2% of that is the less weight

I’ll stick with my Tanic bricks. The big difference between TP and Tanic is customer service and the Tanic “C” ratings are for real. Have yet too own a TP pack that can actually sustain the continuous rating on the label. Also not one of my TP packs have lasted more than 30 cycles. My Tanic is going on over 50 cycles and showing no sign of wear.

One set of the Tanic 8880's I have has over 85 cycles on them and they have been crashed 2 times and still going strong. Thad 65 or so when I got them and a canopy piercing ejection.

Guess where I got them??? ;)

Good to know about the Tannics. I have also found the Duralite packs to be strong over the long run. Nice to see several manufacturers making solid batteries these days....things are a-changin'.

Will,

Did you get those batteries from Bobby? The Tanic 8800 have tons of power. I should be ordering two sets of the new Tanic 6500 15-20C batteries this spring. Only have two TP packs left and they will probably be toast in only a few more flights.

Yes I got them from Bobby. THey are still running very well, but they are a little dinged up and the shrink wrap is ripped off in a couple places from the ejections in crashes.

hey , been flying the 2 10s2p 4200s , they act alittle stronger than the 8000s , reason why is the rating , they can handle 202 peak amps , I have a new set of 8000s comeing , but I think I will stick with the 10s2ps :)

Hi Tony,

did you try the L14 packs or do you have some reshaped ones for the Ion?
Any canopy issues with these packs? BTW, one or two pics would be really cool.

Mike , they were the logo 14 batteries , the canopy is fat , but they fit and worked great , got some videos of the 2 events I went too , Matt Botos with the Vstabi Ion running with the 14s 32-4 , he also ran it with my 10s Ion but didnt get the chance to get that flight on video, he flew for 12 min , and came down with plenty of power left , and put back 8400 ma   ( got carried away ) :arggg: :smokin:
also got a video of Scott Glasgow ringing on the 10s Ion with the 2 10s2ps ,
these 2 weeks was fun as hell , had a blast , and hot as hell too

its flybarless and the VStabi is the brains to fly the heli with out the flybar , it has 2 gyros for the swash , completely programable , simulate the flybar by computer, pictures in my gallery
