Well it looks lke alot of the turbine guys are starting to arise, time to get some new projects up.
I will be doing something different using the Wren system shortly, if any others have some new projects going on lets get them on here so we can all gain from your pain!!

OK...I will be the first to post to Gary's question...
this years Turbine will be a little different the last two years...
I am starting out with a Composite-ARF 2.6M (102") YAK55 airframe...I choose an ARF for a couple of reasons
1. I really don't want to spent 6 months building up a Carden or some other brand Kit...this project is all about the ability for the average bloke to install a WREN Turbo-Prop unit into a Giant Scale aerobat...not my kit building skills...
2. I could not build a kit for the price these quality ARF's are going for...
I am still waiting on the WREN Turbo-Prop unit...believe it or not there is a waiting list for this $5K power plant! I understand I am #4 on the list! but expect to see it within the next 3 or 4 weeks...but it is a work of art...and I am CHOMPING at the bit to get going on this project!
I will be running JR 8611a servos which produce 300+ oz in torque @ 6volts...2 on each aileron, 2 on the rudder and 1 on each elevator half...
To power this beast I am using all Duralite products...(1) SC-12 Powerbox with Match Control (allows to adjust each servo when ganged together), (2) 4000mAh batteries for the Powerbox, and (1) 3000MaH Li-Poly ECU battery (using the Li-Po ECU battery in hopes that WREN will come out with a Kero start unit and these require a ton more current to start the turbine)
A single Futaba PCM RX will be used...the use of duel RX's is a heated debate in the Giant Scale arena but I think using the Powerbox will be enough redundancy...
as for the "coolness" factor I am batting around the idea of putting a smoke system in also...the exhaust is more than hot enough to make smoke without preheating the oil like we do with the big gassers...

Greg It is a work of art no doubt, I was amazed when I had it in my hands for the first time. I to will be flying a YAK amonst a few other projects but as it stands the Yak will be up first. I can't as you know Greg post to much yet but as soon as I can it will be up here.
I two am amazed at a waiting list for these but believe me when you have one you will understand why!!

You know Tim you are starting to look like a Hippy. :)
I have another EC 145 going with a Jaka and Len Mount. Had ground resonance issues last year with it and starting all over. Have had a test flight, low head speed still.
Did find out along the way that resonance is significantly enhanced by not stiff enough internal framing.
We do need to make this the TURBINE forum in the USA and get away from Poop Ryder. I will do my part....Tim get a haircut, makes you look 19 that way....lol.

Jack,
"We do need to make this the TURBINE forum in the USA" ... but what about us Brits? I've been told that some of the UK turbine people aren't welcome on RR, and I notice that several of them have made their way over here. How about "We do need to make this the WORLDWIDE TURBINE forum" - please?

Sara,
I am so sorry, the Brits haven't been here much, for that matter not too many at all, but as a group of Turbine Heli....heck Turbine lovers in general, we need a forum to keep in contact, discuss ALL the products without censureship.
So anyhow, no intention to leave you folks out. My intention was more like :
The site for scale RC helis is ScaleRChelis.com,
The site for 3D heli's is Helifreak.
RR has been the center for turbine forums.
It is up to us as a group to elicit the change.
And Sara, I always love to see a post from you. We need more females in the soup!

Jack
OH AND TIM, I am so jealous of the length of your hair.....no cold ears.
