This NEU 1521 setup is VERY HOT! Ion-X performance is definitely moving up to the next level! Even on 10s this setup ROCKS! With the double gear and the HV-110, we will be trying 12s in this machine in the not so distant future. Stay tuned.

As the power is stupid fly with this NEU, be sure to polish your pinion. ;)

Do you guy's recommend using the stacked secondary gear set-up with the NEU motor. Just installed mine last night and hope to try it Sunday. I also polished the gear for a little smother mesh, looks more like I chrome plated it.

The single gear works fine the thing i have notice over time flying it hard doing maneuvers it does wear the 48 so that is why the double gear was thought up also Iam triyng the Neu on 12s hope fully the double gear will work
I am still using the single gear in my 10s Ion wiht no problems but i check the gear about every 10 flights

We are finding out that with the AWESOME power of the NEU and other new motors, combined with the newer HOTTER LiPo Packs available, we need to beef up the drive train for longevity and Chris is delivering on stuff to try.
This NEU setup is HOT HOT HOT, I used to think my 32-3 was hot, it runs great but the NEU is really over the top. Will it hold up as long as the ACTRO? TIme and a BUNCH of flights will tell, good weather is approaching and there are quite a few of us getting our equipment ready for some serious testing and fun balls to the walls and precision Ion-X FUN!!
I tell you one thing for sure, everywhere I take my Ion's, people all stare open mouthed and come over after the flight and ask all about this MONSTER machine!! I do not miss the slimers one tiny bit! Ion-X is where it is at!!! This is going to be a GREAT year for the Ion. Thank you Chris Stephenson adn MA!!!!

Hey Will , it was a great year last too , and yes , it sure does open there eyes when a high power E rips like it does , yes the Nue does sound great , also , how do the 8880s like it ? I need to quite talking bad about those big boys like I do , because they do work pretty good , one thing I did with my Ion was lighten it up, just changing the plastic gear to a joker gear save 4 oz , and another 4 oz by useing the bec , but then I gained it all back with the schulze 40-160 , but you can save 4oz will really make it scoot faster

That is pretty wild looking Tony!!
I have not tried the 8880's with the NEU setup yet, only TP-8000's. I will be trying some as soon as I can. Just finished this heli a few weeks ago and then had trouble with a 77-O then bad weather. :DOH 8+ Inches of the white stuff on the ground now nad depression setting in...I think I need a drink. ;)

Hi,
Does the 48t double stacked secondary gear come assembled with the pinion etc ?
Also I noitce you don't have your fan in there, is there no need for the fan with the Neu ?
Cheers
Simon.

The single gear will work fine on 10s. From what I understand, the double gear is in testing to see how it holds up with 12s and ULTRA HARD 3D pilots using 10s. I believe that MA will manufacture the double gear at some point for use for the HARD 3D'ers and in 12s+ setups if all the testing goes well. I am not 100% sure about this though you know how it goes with the things you hear through the grapevine. You can make your own double gear if you have 2 secondarys laying around.
So far the NEU is staying cool. Never seen it above about 115-120 so far, even after Clint wrings it out.
The most important thing to making the secondary gears last is to polish your pinion to a very high sheen. It keeps the mesh quiet and cool.

Is this without a fan on the heli ?

Yes no fan on the NEU, it is not running hot and I don't want the extra weight. I don't think Bobby is running a fan either, not sure about the rest of the guys running the NEU...

I have'nt got the NEU motor, still running the Hacker but have a 32-3 ready to go in when I get my 100t gear.
What I need is another ION one to run the Actro and the other to run the NEU

You can run the ACTRO with the 95T main gear fine, headspeed is pretty high, like 2200 on fresh packs but it flys great!! Just don't be dumb like me and cut the 2-stage fingers out of your frameset just in case you decide to go back to 2-stage at some point.

I have 2 Ions simon one is running the Neu on 10s (no fan) runs very cool after 5 minutes of hard 3d i can hold the motor the setup is incredible iam running the TP5S4P 5300 packs which Will is going to fall over when he tries them because they take almost 1lb off the machine witht the same punch as the TP 8000'S
The Neu is so consitant from start to finish its like having a governer.
The 2 nd Ion is running 12s testing the NEU on 12s and the 32-3 on 12s so far so good I think the New TP PROLITES 6S2P4200 15C PACKS ARE HOT for this set up and so far it is well over 90 size modified Nitro power!! Flying it 3d the cool part is cost of packs go down and the Castle cc110 is working well great speed controll for 250 bucks

Daaamnn Bobby you put Doubts in my mind. I have just ordered a set of TP8000 5s4p pack for my neu setup - is that the wrong way to go ?
Allso neither 5400 nor 8000 5s4p packs can be found on Tppacks homepage so what, Where, Who ?

hey , Chris can get them as well as Bobby , you can also email gary and he can get you a set
8000 rock also , but the 5300 are great too , just a short flight time

http://www.thunderpower-batteries.com/html/batteries.html
Call TP directly talk to gene he can take care fo you
The 8000's are awesome packs but for my style of flying i like the 5300's because i like flying in a box and the little bit of weight loss is a big differance.
Try the 8000's first the 5300's have to be broke in slowly i found that only flying 4 minute flights up to about 30 cycles and then they really come alive and i can do a steady 5 to 6 minutes now
I woudl really like to seee the new 2100 cell in a 5s3p config i think that would be alittle hotter then the 5300 packs
