Thought I would do a quick intro. I have been into RC cars and truck for a while (nitro), and just picked up a Blade CP+. I have wanted to try it for quite some time. I have a couple cheapo air hog heli's ( I know, not even close to this) and enjoy them. I have tried lift off a couple times, with not to gooda result...lol I now have a sim, andwill be getting alot of time in on that before my next attempt on the real. A friend of mine got the Blade CX2, and was up in 10 minutes, with no flight time at all, so I thought I was good to go with the CP. Man was I wrong, or maybe I shouldnt have listened to the whole "This model was test flown at the factory, and set for flight right out of the box", and actually gave it the once over myself. Well, thats about it for now. I gots alot of reading to do, and sim time to get.

I started out on a Blade CP+ a couple of months ago. It is a squirrelly little bird, but you can learn to hover with it. Not having a sim, I just put training gear on it and took it slow. With training gear, you can spool it up enough to make it light - the skids off the ground with the training gear still in contact. If you do that on a hard surface, you can scoot the heli around and learn how to control it without much danger of a serious crash. Once you get to the point where you can keep it in a relatively small area, you can up the throttle a little and do the same thing about 6 inches off the ground. Take it slow and you'll get it figured out.

I usually am not one to take it slow. I get a new toy, and go all out. This is one that I will take advice with though....lol I have already busted a tail boom, skid, main rotor blade, tail rotor assembly fell apart ( made a nice mod so the tail is much stronger). So yeah, slow and steady from here.

Hey bro,

You prob don't want to hear this, but you bought one of THE hardest heli's you can possibly learn on! Yes it can be done....I started that way too unfortunately. BUT, once I bit the bullet and got a TREX 450 SE v2...OMG what a difference! On the Blade CP, after a year of on/off flying, crashes and frustration I was able to tail in hover. But with my Trex...after literally 20 flights I was doing loops, rolls and backflips! Seriously, it's THAT much of a difference...yes the price is MUCH higher, but it's well worth it. I then bought a Raptor 50 nitro back in the Spring and again, OMG what a difference! So in retrospect I wish I would have skipped the Blade altogether....but I was able to at least hover it. Also on your Blade...the motor driven tail well....sucks!

Oh and yes I used Radd's with my Blade CP and a simulator.

Not trying to discourage you, but just wanted to point out that if you really want to get into the heli's, and increase your learning curve by 10 fold....get a larger 450 size or bigger heli and you'll greatly appreciate the difference! Especially since you are like me...I don't take anything slowly....I push myself....I have crashes to prove it!

Good luck,
Skarn

A sim and radds school of flight got me going. I started off with a Blade 400 w\training gear and after hours and hours of sim time and a lot of broken parts I was hovering..patience is defiantly the key,,,
