I am not saying this to bash RR...but a gentleman got on and asked what the "latest and greatest" was in the Turbine world as he was interested in purchasing a turbine...took 10 posts until Mark closed the thread...I think in the long run he is going to be the down fall of his own site... :arggg:
OK Will no more...sorry...
I think the guy is headed this way now...

Greg,
Outstanding! One thing a whole lot of folks would do well to remember is, there is no "I" in Team.

I read his "REP POLICY" he said we need to be reeled in. I myself don't like that choice of words. He did say we can answer technical questions only. Its true that for the most part you would want the reps and manufacturers to answer the technical stuff, most of the time they have enough experience with a problem and can get to the bottom of it for the customer.
Now if a company pays for advertising which is one of the things a rep should be doing why run the reps OFF, shortly after you will loose the manufacturers, then who answers the technical questions?
What about when a guy goes to the fun flys for the sole purpose of taking photos and video to furter promote his buisness, should he be allowed two photos a month? I think we need to reel him in. Any fun fly that I am involved in in the future I will see to it that he pays to take photos or video. Thats my new policy!! I suggest any of you involved with fun flys do the same. We don't need anyone coming to an eventand applying there own method of subversive advertising.

You know, my Mom and Dad were about the only folks on the face of the earth that were able to "rein" me in and that individual does not fit into that category by a helluva' "long shot." I take no pleasure in doing what I had to do, however he made his own bed....and, you know the rest of that quote.

Hey,
Really depends on what your after, there is quite a selection now catering from aerobatic pod & boom models, to full blown scale machines. With quite a few different manufacturers offering different packages to suit various applications.
The two main aerobatic pod & boom models that spring to mind are the WREN Century Predator & the WREN Bergen Intrepid, both converted 90 size machines using the tried & proven WREN MW54 gas generator & gearbox. Both backed up by knowledgable & experienced sales & support people, with dedicated fliers able to answer any questions you may have.
A quick skim through this forum will reveal many more options to you, again a lot of your decision will hinge on what type of flying you want to do with the model. Scale or sport/3D.

Pathetic really I think now, ok so I am promoting two makes but I do also mention there are others and it's ultimately down to the individual as to what tehy buy to suit their flying style. Plus why let it go on for that long before closing it?
I'm with ya, charge him for all the pictures he takes that are then posted on the site. If their not for personal use then it's for advertising to make his site look up-to-date.
Hehehe, next topic is..................

Ian,
Lots of outstanding turbine-powered machines out there, regardless of your taste, brand preference and (getting close) budget. What's really neat is that, a year ago, folks were stuffing turbines any way they could into pod and booms....a compromise at best, however, now the machines are being built around the turbines in order to exploit the capabilities of both the turbine and the machine itself. Some incredible advances have been made.
Just remember this time last year, we were all speculating about whether a turbine could be a viable 3D machine. You, yourself along with a number of others have demonstrated that turbines can be extremely capable when it comes to aerobatics.
And, with the scale world, the possibilities are almost endless with new and exciting developments coming on almost a daily basis.
All of this is said because it is a damned shame when one person feels they have to "throttle" the community in order to maintain a "rice bowl," when the entire world of heli's is an "open door" of opportunity right now....mind you, if the right attitude is maintained.
Frankly, this is none of my business, however I couldn't help but do some elementary "math" in my head regarding advertising and running a web site. I am not going to throw any specific figures out, because, as I said, it's none of my business, however, it would appear to me, looking at the site in question, that heli's have become a most lucrative business. I have a hard time understanding why some would would "crap where they eat."

You guys are very welcome to discuss whatever you want about Turbine helis here, discuss away.
As Doc and others have said, the time is right to get into Turbines, reliability and performance is OUTSTANDING, the fun factor for a guy like me has gone through the roof! I never really wanted a Turbine before because they were cool and all, but I like to fly inverted and flip and roll the heli, and until now, it was not really an option. Now all that has changed, and I hope to have one at some point, I fell in love flying Greg's Bergen, got a waiver, and it is gonna be hard not to have one......
Speaking of waivers, what do you have to do to get the AMA to send you one each year? Do you have to take the flying and verbal test again each year? I though once you had one, you kept it, but not sure now.
Dr.Tim

William, They will send you a new one each year ... assuming you are an AMA member

Will...if you haven't recieved you Waiver for 2006 then you need to call the AMA at (765) 287-1256 and talk with either Ilona Maine (ext 251) or Michelle Lamb (ext 232) and have them send you out a new one...

Regarding the subject of the censor Mr. Ryder.
I can think of all sorts of neat medical terms to desribe about every profanity that can be imagined in this world, but he isn't worth the intelligence necessary to spell them.
He is violating the Right of all Americans for free speech. Betcha if someone had lots of money to throw away and a hot shot lawyer they sure could make life uneasy for that anal pore for awhile.
I only go to that site to keep up on most of the turbine world, check on scale folks that don't know SRCH, and to watch the antics. I am well aware of the last 'closures' and did not/do not feel that they were spamming, instead necessary information about brands of turbines being conversed upon.

Well it is technically HIS site and he can run it as he sees fit. Just like you run your house like you want to. Now do I agree on how MR runs "his house"? HELL NO! Call people sheep because they don't see what is going on and they get offended. Fact is... I was a sheep once too.
HeliFreak and company is also free to edit and delete post however they see fit. The difference is, of course, they don't. About all you ever will see here is a lock, and they are few and far between. Although I have racked up a few (locks) Will still speaks to me ;)

I find it amazing he has the balls to tell advertisers they get (2) posts per month! :wow2:
Current RunRyder advertisers are allowed to create two topics (posts) per month for marketing. Follow up posts will answer questions and not be used for continued promotion or bumping. The forum "CLASSIFIEDS - Vendors" can be used for this. In popular forums these topics will be moved or closed after a weeks time. All other discussions will be on topic and not used for selling. Product links, videos or photos will be limited to the opening posts of the two selling topics. Answering questions anywhere else will not include photos or links (use PM instead). One exception is a tech support clarification photo that has been cropped for the context (no beauty shots). Advertisers should use their (2) selling posts wisely. :badair:

so how do we do it here then?
DebianDog
02-14-2006, 03:39 PM
Well if a bunch of folks start complaining I suppose we would let the offending advertiser know. But, to my knowledge, it has never happened.
Being we have advertisers and they post "responsibly" I do not think we even have a rule. Umm "Use your head"? OR "Don't be a jerk-off about your product" is how we do it here... I suppose.

No written rules about advertising posting, just respect others.

If all you guys are gonna do is run over here and talk smack about MR and RR then go running back, even after you have been asked nicely not to, then go somewhere else please. It seems that is what a couple of you are wanting to do and no thanks. How is that respecting the members of this site?
