I wanted to touch the electric world! I am kinda fed up with nitro engines and their problems! (or i am getting abit lazy!)

I was chatting with laurens (Thanks laurens for your tips!), and I'd also like anyone to input..

I want to ask about electric helis that are the closest (or better if exists) to the 90 nitro machine's in terms of power and 3D..

Most of you will probably say "MA IONX" helis, but i am kinda leaving that option due to availability of parts (and probably price)..

what setups are the best ? "Motors, ESC, Power ?" gear ratios also ?!

your inputs will be much appreciated,,,, Thanks!

Hi,

think about the Roxxter 55 (LF-technik)

http://www.lf-technik.de/roxx55.html

equiped mine with Plettenberg Orbit 30-12
ESC is Jazz 55-10-32
10S 1p Polyquest 3700XP

gives 24 minutes inverted-Hoovering training @1400rpm (nice to cool down before going to bed) :D
or 6-8 minutes Hard 3D @2000rpm

performance: near 3000 watt vs. 3300 gramm -->

watch the demovideo on his Website to see what i mean...

(still waiting for the already ordered Vblades to get some more Adrenaline)

I doubt you will find a 90 size E-Heli that can touch the performance or reliability of the Ion-X. If you want a little smaller but GREAT performance, go with a Logo 14. Jon Jennings has one for sale right now for a great price in teh for sale forum. Parts will cost about the same a a MA machine. MA is also about to come out with a 50 sized E-Heli, also a Raptor 50 can be converted to E with a kit available from TPPacks.com and it flys good to.

How hot is the weather you will be flying in? If it is super hot that may limit your E-Heli setup.

Other than that, I am sure there are others, but I have not seen many of them.

well its going to be extremely hot at summers, but i'll probably pick a time when the temp starts to drop as the sun sets..

i am actually more afraid on parts availability than prices.. how'd you rate the parts availability on lets say ion-x and logo 10 / logo 20 ??

Well... Since the Ion-X shares a lot of parts withthe Extreme and Stratus I would bet parts for the Ion-X would be easier to find then any particular Logo, but I am not sure outside of the states. There are about as many places that carry MA parts as Raptor parts here in the USA I would bet. You don't really see that many Micado parts stocked in the USA at least the shops I buy from.

if its available in the US , thats really fine with me, I order everything from the US anyways, i never bought anything other than fuel and some tools from here.

what about the actual motor/esc/power setup, do you recommend any ?

Thanks :)

FOr the Ion-X, the NEU 1521 with the Hacker 77-0-Heli or the Castle Creations HV-110 seems to be the HOT 2 stage setup and the Actro 32-3 with the same ESC's is the HOT single stage setup. There are a few other motors being run, but I'm not sure which other than the original hacker that shipped withthe first Ion-X kits. You probably could get a lot more useful information asking about it in the MA Electrics Forum.

You also might find out more about Mikado parts availability from someone, I'm surprised nobody has commented on this thread about them. I have no experience withthe Makado machines other than seeing them fly, and they fly GREAT!!

That Roxxter is some fine German quality kit.
If you want 90 performance its best to have a heli with 600 to 700 mm blades/maybe 500 blades.

I just saw a vid of a Swift running Milwaukee packs. These packs are actually made for drills. They're only 100 dollar for a 7s pack.

Some examples for a good heli:
Century Swift.
Logo 10 3D
Logo 14
MA fury IonX
MA fury Ion 50 (not released yet)
heli pro Revolution

Do you happen to know what the C rating and discharge rate of the Milwaukee packs are?

They seem to be made for about 20C. There's a huge thread about them on www.rcgroups.com.
