Hello,
I've been playing with the idea of getting/scratch building a scale Mi-24 hind body kit and came accross this site... It may prove useful to anyone with simular ideas.

still scratching my head as to how I'm gonna make these retracts... :?
AND have them be able to survive any kind of rough landing.

There is a scale fuselage kit avaliable already that's pretty well done.

Do a search on http://www.scalerchelis.com

That sure brings back memories of one of the first long term projects I was on. I worked on one of those (Mi-24) as well as a Mi-2 and Mi-8 back in the 80's. Yes they were classified back then but now they live to train troops at Ft.Polk LA and a few other places. I have some pictures on page 13 of my gallery as they came through Ft Rucker for an overnighter.
It is a very dependable helicopter by USA standards.

The only Hind Mi-24 kit/body that I've been able to find so far (been searching awile) is the one made by DarthDrk... and only fits Trex/Zoom sized chopers. (Thinking of doing some heavy moding.) http://darthdrk.4t.com/photo2.html
I'm hoping for something a little larger that won't be a removible body but a fuselage. Especially with the detail that I'm wanting to but into it. i.e. scale working retractable landing gear, 5 blade head, 3 blade rotor, fully detailed cockpits, rivit lines, ect... The only scale hinds that I've seem to have found so far are all scratch builds.
I don't think I can afford something like the awsome scale turbine helis I've seen out there though. ($2,000+ for an engine is out of my lil budget.) So I'm sure I'll haft to figure out exactly what size engine I would need for the lil monster.... or if it could even swing a 5 blade head.
So if anyone has seen a Mi-24 Hind kit I'd love to know about it and any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm still learning how to fly my lil Blade CP so all this is pretty much long term planing... But I like to know how I'm gonna put everything together and how I'm going to make things from scratch before starting any project. Once I figure out the aprox total cost/size/blue print I'll go ahead and start working on it. I'm just not going to even think about test flights until a heli or two later.
