View Full Version : DSX9 gyro gain confusion

Dear All, this is my first post so please be kind. I have upgraded from a DX6i to DSX9 and have a few problems (relating to inexperience) understanding the gain options for the gyro (i'm using a GY401).

As I understand it I can run the gain cable out of the gear channel and then use the travel adj on the gear channel to adjust gain settings and use the gear switch to change from HH to rate mode. This is currently what I'm doing with the 9 channel JR reciever.

If I do this I take it the Gyro Sens menu is not in use.

Am I right in thinking though that if I change the gain lead from the gyro to the AUX2 input on the Rx then I can use the Gyro Sens menu to alter the amount of gain in either HH or rate mode while flying? (using the D/R rudder switch - or does this switch just alter the HH/rate mode?) If this is so how do I change the gyro mode?

This has got me confused big time.

If I enable the Gyro Sens menu then the AUX2 channel seems to be off in the reversing menu.

I have seen some posts dealing with issues like these using 6 channel Rx, but these have not lifted my veil of confusion.

I spent hours on this yesterday only to find that my Rx was faulty upon taking it back to the shop. They however didn't understand the GYro Sens menu options either though.

Many thanks in advance

Simon

If you use the gyro menu, you have to connect gain to aux2.

Then you can change values from 0-100, where each side of 50 represents rate or HH-mode, the further away from 50, the higher gain. You can choose 3 options for changing gain, i use fl.mode, so i can set a different gain for each headspeed, if you like, you can set rate-mode in Normal, and HH in idle 1 and 2, or any way you like.

You can also use a prog. mix to use another switch for changing modes. E.g.: your gain is 25% from 50, say 75% for HH, put in a mix for gear-->aux2 50%, then your gear switch will change mode like always, AND you have different gains for each headspeed :)

You can set it to two different gains and switch between them in flight.

Or set it up as mentioned, to have the gain switch with flight mode.
