Probably in the late summer, fall time frame I want to get an electric heli.
Was curious to peoples thoughts and opinions on these birds. Not really looking for a what's "best" but personal experiences.
I don't want a heli that I have to spend countless and countless hours tweaking and fiddling with.
I want a heli that is durable and won't fall apart if the landing isn't perfect.
Finally, I don't want to spend $2000 on this either. Type of flying I'd like to do is mild 3d, some inverted hovering, none of that choas stuff flipping around violently type of flying.

I have heard nothing bad about the logo series
I can tell you its sooo easy to convert a glow machine I think you would be money ahead to do so.
That would give you a good cheap parts supply when you crash
I would be happy to help you if I can

I was thinking about that this morning actually. I remember hearing about the Raptor30 conversion and I see in your signature you converted a Raven.
I'll throw out some more questions on this if you don't mind.
1) The converted glow heli will weigh more than a designed electric heli?
2) If so, that means will need more cells for the same power range? I have a triton charger at the moment and really would rather utilize that then spend another $150-200 on another charger. And not to thrilled to the idea of having 2 lipo packs in the heli costing upwards of $500 for the both of them.
3) Glow heli's are a lot more durable as far as crashes come over the electrics, right? I mean, the electric ones from my understanding are made more flimsy.
Guess that's about it at this time
I'm still a newbie in this hobby, so I might not word the questions right and it might be common sense to some of you guys already. I'm learning though!

1 Yes I would say the glow converions are heavier but I don't know by how much. With that weight comes some durability
2 The Triton is good for 20 cells (rated for 24 but your charging times will increase too much) I built this with the thought of flying Nimh's until the price of the Lipo's come down. I can't see spending more in batteries than I have in the whole heli!
3 I used to fly the glow version of the Raven and it is a very good crasher
just like the Raptor
I am new to the electrics so as I learn more I'll pass on more
Karl everybody started as a newbie, ask all the questions you want

EvoHeli, from all the research i have done during work hours, i could tell you that basically everyone says the if you are going to get an eolo you should buy the pro since it already comes with carbon extras. the one thing is that it doesn't come with a motor, but if you are planning on flying 3D then you would most likley want a brushless setup anyway.

The Eolo is a good heli but it needs upgrades, like 3rd bearing for the mainshaft, bearing inserts for the tail drive wire, alu swashplate. These are the starter uppers. Then stand back and throw money at it, Headblock,Bladegrips,Paddles, Paddle attachments, mixers and on and on.
My basic flyer without the full list of extras $1800. Twist 3700, JAZZ controller, two,3S4P 8000mah batterys and a schultz charger. But it flys great and I am happy.
PS I had all of the servos, gyro and reciever.

If you want the Logo 10 -3D kit you need to add $140.00 for the prices listed above (Logo 10-3D Kit sells for $479.00 and has almost all the bells and whistles you could ask for)
The Mega motor combo packs allot of power and is comparable to a C50 15L Hacker but a little less coin.
I have seen a few conversions of the Rappy, and Century kits. They all look great out there. But you still need to purchase most of the electronic parts that you would use for the Logo.
The best charger for the money to charge Li-Po's is the Astro Charger. Only $129.95. Most chargers will charge the NiMh packs.

the eolo is a great option it is in a class by it self size wise bigger than a micro smaller than a logo 10 and flys like a 50 size, power, stability in high wind, etc....you don't have to fiddle with it endlessly like a micro
it uses Smaller batteries / motor / esc so you won't go broke like you will with a bigger heli like a logo , parts are cheaper than logo parts too
it does NOT need alot of extras to fly extreme 3d just the 3rd BB kit for the main shaft and the bb kit for the TR drive wire other than that the stock pro flys EXCELLENT out of the box..you really don't need anything else other than choosing a good power system to suit your flying style/ needs/ wants..
