How many of them are there? Not being into turbines I figured you would buy "direct" from Bergen, Starwood, or whomever. No?

Barry,
Dan makes a very good point...buying direct has it's very distinct advantages, as both Greg and I have found out. If it's Wren, I do business with Sara, Roger and the Wren team. If it's Jakadofsky, I deal strictly and only with either Dr. Tim or Al Wert out at Starwood. Don't get me wrong...there are good folks that are serving well as distributors, however there are some "middle men" who have seen and taken the opportunity to "rip off" folks in the turbine community as well. Fortunately, the community is exceedingly small, so we pretty much know and can warn folks about idiots like a certain gent in the UK  , however, the warnings have to be heeded. And, to directly answer your question, the answer would be yes and no...yes on the purchase of my Jetcopter from Airstar and no, due in large part to a super middle man, chopper jockey, from whom I purchased my first Wren and Benzine conversion. BTW, the folks I have had good luck with have all become good, close and lasting friends, as well...those are the folks you enjoy dealing with on a daily basis.

Hey Barry,
That was not aimed at you, shipmate. You will note I got "burned" as well and, as I just explained in an email, I was warned as well.

With the cost of turbines it would worth the airfare to go and "visit" a dealer or anyone for that matter, that ripped me off.

It is just so hard to keep up your scam when your mark is standing in front of you with the local law enforcement official right behind you.
Been there done that.

Jeff,
That's one approach....the easier approach being dealing with "the good guys" that you know are going to come through. The old "ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" is the object here...hopefully letting folks know in advance. Some of us have learned some hard lessons.

Doc, I agree with you 100%.
The situation that I had was not heli related and there was no "Good Guy" info available.
But it was worth it to see the look on the guys face to see me and an officer at his front door.

Jeff,
I think we discussed that once before one on one...and, yes, there is some very solid satisfaction in watching the reactions of the other person. Truely I just hope we can help some of these young folks avoid some of the traps we have fallen into and had to crawl out of....know what I mean, Vern?

On this one, Jeff's way MAY be the best! This dude is REALLY pushing the envelope. Oh, and Barry, this a$$hole never resolves anything to anyone's satisfaction.....except his.
Phil...THANKS...the "good guys" always come through. Maybe you need to sic Giff on this butt-head once and for all.

Me to!
I don't know much about Turbines...yet, but if someone is ripping people off, maybe it would be better to post it publically instead of PM'ing?????
I do consider myself looking for a Turbine at some point when teh funds are right, and I bet there are a few of us wondering 1275mini. You have peaked our curiosity and nobody like to be ripped off. I can see from this thread that you guys know what he is talking aobut Doc, don't you think others should know?
Did you notice the lost/stolen forum we have here. It may be best to warn people so nobody else gets ripped. http://www.helifreak.com/forum-57.html
That is one of the things that really apeals to me about the Bergen, I don't have to worry after spending a large amount of $$ being misled or support after the sale, I have dealt with Bergen before and it was all good. Larry and Chris are very honest.
