Thinking of changing the servos in the Raptor to digital. Any one tell be which one to start with,[ I.E. collective aileron] Also if I make the switch should I go to a 6 volt system.

I know Tom had something on this but I can't find the link. I think

Yes I have a couple of suggestions. Switch to a 6 volt pack. About a 2700 to 3000 NMH pack. Then one servo at a time, install the digital 94758Z servo from Airtronics.

Start on the collective, then the two swashplate servos. Then change the tail servo to a 94758Z. Now put the removed 9253 digital Futaba servo on the throttle, with a throttle jockey pro governor running it in the super servo mode.

You will look good!!! However once you have all five digital servos installed, don't forget you will also be eating battery power up like you own the power company. You can get two clean flights from this setup fully charged, and another clean flight with a top off from a field charger.

Some people are flying this setup three flights between charges, but I would not try that. Not unless you go to like a 4000 NMH pack charged correctly, long and slowly. Then it would be fine for an extra flight.

With this servo setup in your helicopter, you won't believe you are flying the same helicopter. Again, I would suggest this servo compliment for any RC helicopter.

These 94758Z servos are tough as nails. They run a very long time, even beating them up badly. And they are about the fastest servo made to date, with a true torque rating of around 100oz as well.

Hey OC
How do they work with a Futaba RX. Are the plugs the same or do I have to change them at all?

Matthew,
The Airtronics Z servos and JR servos share the same type plug. S type.
They will both plug right into a Futaba receiver with no problems.
The polarity is the same on the Futaba, JR and Airtronics Z servos.
