I have two R50s and a Trex flying with my 9Z and I gotta tell you I still don't undestand how ATV and AFR relate to each other. Why do you need both of these ? I have read that AFR is best to use, but does one over ride the other ? For instance if you are setting the piro rate for a 401 and using AFR on the rud channel and ATV is set at 100%, if you set AFR to 90% does the 100% ATV override the AFR ?? Dang I thought I was smarter than this :( .

The ATV controls the limit of the servo on that channel and the AFR controls the function.
for instance, with eCCPM if you change the ATV of the pitch channel it will only affect the servo plugged into the pitch channel. The AFR for the pitch affects the function so it will affect all three of the servos that are mixed for the function.
Changing the ATV also changes the center point of the servo. AFR does not.
So you set your ATV to eliminate any potential binding and then use AFR to set the total throw.
Another thing is that ATV acts across all flight modes where AFR can be different in each flight mode.
At least this was my understanding for all of the years that I used a 9Z.

In what most people consider a programming 'bug', on the 9Z, the ATV is different
for each flight mode (it's in the CND menu).
Apparently fixed in the 14MZ.
In my limited experience w/ eCCPM, you'd be best off to leave the ATV/AFR @ 100
and use the SWH mix values. Only mess w/ ATV/AFR if you need to balance out specific
servo at min/max travel.

The programming on the 14 is very easy, you can make it like the 9Z if you want, or group them together and make it the same for all conditions. Every mode is independent of each other, you can group in one, and not in another, you can ungroup any single function and not hte others, etc. It is cool!! Very flexible programming.

AFR is located in the CND menu also. Ever adjustment that is located in the CND menu can be adjusted different for each flight condition.
ATV is Adjustable Travel Volume of the channel. It adjusts the travel limits of the channel. But if the ATV is offset a great precentage, the neutral will also move. For example if one end is 120% and the other end is 60%. The neutral point is offset.
AFR is Adjustable Function Rate- This adjusts the function rate control for each channel. Also if another channel is mixed into the channel, it will make the adjustment needed to compensate for the mix also. AFR you can set one end 120% and the other end 60% and the neutral point stays the same.
With the AFR the rate is handled within a function. So if anything is mixed with that channel it handles it also. ATV just controls the one channel.
AFR= Adjustable Function Rate
ATV = Adjustable Travel Volume
