I'm gathering the necessary stuff for my future Outrage 550. What main blades are the test pilots using and what the results?

Thanks

RotorTech 560's, I believe.

There's also been rumors going on the internet that V-Blades will be making blades in the 550 range.

maniacs on mine, only got a couple of flights so far but seem good.

The Factory pilots have been testing them with SWE 550's, and Rotortech 560's

How do they fair out between the two?

The RT's are a bit quicker in response, Steven really likes them, I believe Craig is still running them as well.

I like the way you plan ahead Lith. Sure beats waiting until the last minute and hating the last few hundred.

I am sure Charley also tests some of the OUTRAGE 560mm blades.

Your not joking. I plan on having my kit flying the week I get it.

Looks like I need to hold off on buying my main blades if these are going to be out when the kit is.

Jeremy. Hold off for now. Tomorrow I will test the new MS composit 550 blades on the 550. I will let you know. The Rotor Tech blades are nice, but I just think it is a little to much blade, IE makes things run a little hotter. The RT 550 blades are something you dont want to buy, they are not the same geometry as the 560's, and dont fly nearly as good, they are actually slow as hell. Give me a little bit to test the MS blades. Plus Charley is working on blades as well.

My main choice in blades will be, V-Blades for my 550. I talked to Vic last week, and he is going to make 550 as a standard size since there is alot of demand for them. Now were talking. I should have some V's to test within a few weeks. Vic is working hard to get production into full swing once again, and soon we will all be blessed again with V's for all our heli's.

I will give some feed back in a day or so on the ms, as compared to the SWE blades, and RT's. I have been running the SWE's due to a shortage on the RT's. They are a bit to weak, I believe. They dont have a clean displacement to them. Very loud blades. They fly fine, actually pretty darn good. They are stable, but as I said, Just not clean sounding as I am use to.

Lith, what motor did you decide on?

I have a Scorpion 4020-1100. Was going to use the Z-Power Z30A-1110 but decided to go with this based on reports with it on a similar 550 heli.

Thanks! Looks like we might end up with identical birds-I'm running the z30 in a Swift 550 and wanted to try something different....Neu's are a little too pricey for my budget so I'm thinking the Scorpion's going to be the way to go.
BTW, Century makes reasonably priced 550's but quality is hit or miss. I haven't had a set yet that balanced out of the box.:dontknow

Here is a visual comparison between the RT560s, Maniac 553, and Gohbee 550s. I'm running them on a Logo 500 but based off specs from the O550 i'm expecting they will perform very similar on the two birds.

Okay. dont bother with MS composit blades for hard 3-d. If you are a sport flyer or learning to do soft 3-d, they would serve their purpose. If you are going to fly hard 3-d, then forget them. Way to soft.

Also I am testing a Scorpion 1380 kv motor. Will let you all know the results as soon as i get my esc from castle. This should be a hot set up on a 13 tooth pinion, maybe even a 12, not sure yet.

Stay tuned

I have a question!!

I look at Helidirect, and the Neu motor is 160$ and the scorpion motors are 169$.
Why do you say that the neu is too pricey if it's cheaper than the scorpion, which you decided to use? Could it be a mistake on Helidirect's website? Just Wondering;)

I'm sure he is talking about the 4020 series of motors. They are $99 each.

Ok thanks.;)

I ended up with the z30. I was going to run NEU but it was out of stock:thumbdown:

As for the blades I'm going to use the RT 560s. Hope they work well;) I see that's what HC is using. Am I correct?

The RT 560s are awesome blades and I have no doubt you are going to like em.

I found the RTs to have a little more pop, more efficient, smoother. Maniacs are better for visability but they are heavy and wide. The finish is not nearly as nice on the maniacs and I always had a little vibe when running them even though I balanced them. Maniacs are a little bit faster on cyclics but the RTs fly bigger.

What about the Gaui 550 blades. I thought someone told me that they were made by SWE. If not they sure do look the same. I have a set of the Gaui 550's to try.

Ok thanks:thumbup:

Since this heli is a 30 size, it's ok to use some blades that fly bigger:)
