The last day of April!

I took a while for the weather to clear up and provide some nice days of flying. I mounted the Jewel generator system with 2 super bright LED’s and a volt meter. Now was the time to see if this system would charge my LiPo…a Relion 5200mAh square pack that needed charging. I met the guys (Bob and Mark) at Mr. C’s for breakfast and we talked about what we wanted to accomplish for the day. We arrived at our practice field only to find park flying plankers...

My Trex700G maiden!

So the day finally arrived…maiden time! The weather decided to play nice, semi warm, mostly sunny, with 5-10 mph winds. Mark was busy fly his Whiplash gasser, Bob was chatting with Bill, John, and Steve. So I arriving last, no one was in a hurry to bother me just yet, so I pulled out my Trex700G and proceeded to fill the tank full of gas. I pumped the bulb until there was a solid stream of full returning back to the tank. One final look at everything, including...

The rest of the build…

After installing the PEM nuts, it was time to install the fuel tank. I looked at the overflow nipple and main fuel line wondering how I was getting those to pass through the frame. The tank is not that flexible, so I couldn’t press in on the tank to make the overflow nipple slip under the frame opening. So I tried twisting the tank in…and it worked! It slipped in very easy…now good luck with getting it out should the need arise! I wire-tied the vent line close...

Happy April Fools Day!...Saying good-bye to my Trex 700N!

Setting the stage…

I made the decision to convert my Trex 700N to gas, a Trex 700G! I picked the HeliXheli conversion kit as the gas conversion platform. I have the Hanson RC300 3D Max motor with the Century V2 pipe. I will be using the Futaba GV-1 governor and RC stator Gator. Running the “show”, is the AR7200BX driving 3 MKS HBLS950 cyclics, HBLS980 tail servo, and a Savox SC-1268sg servo for...

Special addition!

I received a phone call from Dan wanting me to test fly their team project airplane. Yep...once again The Northen ILLinois University (NIU) Engineering students built another experimental aircraft. This year they decided to go with an electric motor and a simple aircraft design. They modeled it after the Sig Cadet, but is looks more like a C130 transport. There building skills are improving and I gave them thumbs up for their design and improved building technique....
