One ready patiently waiting...

Double checked all the setup in the MicroBeast on the 700n this evening and finished up tidying some wiring. It's ready for it's FBL maiden now. Ended up at 9.3lbs dry so it's not too bad but I think I'd really like to get it down to 9lbs. Whether that's possible or not we'll just have to see. Man, it definitely doesn't get any simpler setup-wise than the MB. Super easy and the manual was very descriptive and lead to zero head scratching. The 700n doesn't have the upgrades I had hoped to do before...

One of those "phases" I guess

Posted 01-03-2011 at 01:04 PM by nwmtech

Sure am glad the holidays are over. I ended up getting some great gifts like fuel, CF electronics tray for the 700n, and a microBeast for it as well. I had full intentions of ordering the remaining parts to get it finished today but after a really bad crash with the N5 yesterday I'm not sure if that will happen.

There is nothing that I currently own that flies as nice and as smooth as the N5 but I'll be damned if I haven't been riddled with mechanical problems. I won't get into...

Flyin' and buildin'

Posted 12-20-2010 at 04:54 AM by nwmtech

Great day out at the Lynden Flying Club. Meet a friend of mine out there and ended up getting in half a dozen flights or so. It was a little chilly but as long as you stayed under about 150ft the wind wasn't bad at all. I'm almost getting a little too comfortable with the N5. It's so ridiculously stable and predictable I was really screwing around down low. I've still got a very slight tail wag in certain maneuvers but it's so little I didn't feel like messing with it today and didn't change...

700 overhaul

Posted 12-18-2010 at 02:25 AM by nwmtech

Put 2 flights on the N5 at lunch today. Beautiful sunny day but colder than hell with the wind. By the end of the last flight the tail was awesome and it's currently flying the best it's been so far. I can't wait for a full nice weather day at the field to really polish up the last couple tweaks. Funny thing is I haven't even touched the head gain since the original install. I will eventually put some effort into tuning it but there's no sense in messing with multiple things. My focus lately...

Comparison of VBar 5.0 to TotalG

Posted 12-12-2010 at 05:21 PM by nwmtech

Figured I'd do a seperate entry here as to keep the clutter down.

For my style of flying and how I'm now learning I like the heli to feel 5.0 simply blows the TotalG out of the water. Flat piros and top notch piro compensation is something that's a must to me and the TotalG simply isn't even in the same league as 5.0. While the new TotalG firmware is better from what I've flown, if those two things are key to you as well then you should look towards 5.0 or MB. It was a very nice...
