I actually finished it late last week, but didn't have time to post a blog entry & load the photos till today.

I received the parts from ReadyHeli within a few days. I quickly replaced the motor & retested it (spun up fine).

Wiring
I then set about laying out the wiring. After mocking out a few different options I decided to put the receiver in the front of the bird under the battery tray. Since I had a 6200, I wanted to run the second receiver on...

Build trials & tribulations

I finally got some time over the past couple of days to dedicate to building the 450 Sport. The first steps were re-tracing the rotorhead build, ensuring every screw had loctite (they all did) & attaching the flybar cage. Most of the ball links needed a bit of sizing for smooth operation, which the JR Ball Link Sizer does a great job of.

450 Sport arrival

Posted 12-01-2009 at 06:28 PM by nielsm

My T-Rex 450 Sport arrived today from HeliDirect. I have to say I'm impressed with HeliDirect. Ordered my 450 Sport

Posted 11-27-2009 at 12:55 AM by nielsm

Took advantage of HeliDirect's Black Friday sale & ordered a new Trex 450 Sport. Looking forward to the build. My last build was about 20 years ago with a Kyosho Concept 30. Excited to see the precision vs my other birds.

Flying high with the MSR

Posted 11-09-2009 at 08:20 AM by nielsm

With the CP Pro 2 out of commission, I took the MSR outside for a few flights.... it really doesn't like wind, especially with low rates. Needed to turn up the rates to make it flyable outside, since it needed more control to overcome any kind of breeze.

The wind started dying down after a few packs, so I decided to try to see how high it could go. Tried first about 20 feet, then 50 & came back down after the timer. Next pack was one of the new 150mah packs. Took off &...
