Power Switch for HV Setup

Would you trust this switch to power HV servos, gyro, and rx with a 2s LiPo or LiFe battery?
http://www.gpdealera.com/cgi-bin/wgainf100p.pgm?I=FUTM4385
Its the Futaba heavy duty with 20awg wiring.
If not what was used on the electric model in the MA YouTube vids?
I just can't see taking the canopy off each flight and unplugging from the rx.
I've seen the wiring Carey Shurley did for the gasser writeup but that doesn't look like I'll be able to leave the canopy on.

Thanks!

How much do you have in your mcpx now and how much is it worth

I was just thinking sense the mcpx been out I have put some money in this lil joker. But now I think I'm done for now until the 130 is released.

  So far I have.
Microheli frames $56
Microheli head $20
Rakon swashplate $24
Hpo8 main $40
Xp12a main $25
Hpo3 tail $25
Xp3a tail$13 $5 to flash
Astro design tail motor mount $7 and tail fin $6
Kbdd blades $9 and landing gear $6
Sr120 tail boom $3
Tail blades $2
TDR canopy $36
Blade grips (mh) $18 back to stock for now
Misc parts total $20.
Total $315
And the heli it self when I got it bnf $179
For a grand total of $494 :wow:
Oh I forgot batteries $65 in all
                                    Total $559 (lol thats a fbl 450)

So I think its worth around $350, $375 to me because I wont get $559 for a wouldn't sale it for that much either. I wouldn't even sale it to good of heli.
Horizon made some money off this lil heli. Lol I think we funded over half the profits for the newer helis that are out or coming out by blade (eflite). In reality I think in the past year this lil heli really put hh on the map:thumbup:

But you know what its well worth it to  how many times you can take a 450 and crash it pick it up and fly it again  but the mcpx you can

Be blessed
Isaac

Bought this on impluse and didnt realize the cost of parts, blades, and motors of the 90 size stuff and have decided to go a little different direction, so here is whats included:
Outrage Velocity 90 airframe minus electronics, blades and motor, includes new in box flybar head minus the auctual flybar, two canopies, and the flybarless head and a few misc parts.Would rather sell outright but will consider trades on a quality 450 size heli,or nice nitro bi-plane...make cash offer!!

I should be getting my full size blueline vbar any day now. I was wondering where I should mount the sensor. I figure the best place would be on the bottom plate underneath the main shaft to get in as close to COG as possible. Any ideas?

Thanks for the help! :cheers

I got this from HK as ADH30S-7500. I original plan to use them
for BL mqx project then I give up that project. It is fun to fly the
mqx once for a while, but there is only so much you can do with MQX.

BTW, I don't recommend this motor. The stock wire is way too small.
I am have to go the rewind route.

What I find out is that, the base can be file down to 6mm and
fit the V1 or MSR tail mount. So that is what I did, I end up breaking
the wire so I have to do the rewind myself.

The stock wire is 34 or 35 gauge? 19 turn per pole, Y winding.
I put on 33 gauge 14 turns per pole, Y winding. Haven't try to spin it
up yet.

Here is the picture compare to the original motor.

Guys I have an mcpx that spins in a circle violently when it's sitting on the table. The main blades barely will spin. When I hold it in my hand I can get the main blades to spin but the back servo drops down slowly. When throttle hold is on. The servo's all move fine (dx6i). Just when it's under power it does this. I have 2 boards and i've changed the back servo. I can't figure it out. Any help would be great. Maybe this problem has been solved already. I changed the rotor head and all this came up since.

Hi, Went to fly tonight. The belt seamed tight enough at home. Went out to the field and the temperature dropped to 9 C or 48.2 F. The belt was too loose to fly ? Do I need to tighten it at the field in the cold ? Then loosen it in hotter weather ? Or do I not have it tight enough in the first place ?

450 pro v2 3GX and unintended cyclic movement from rudder

I just got my 450 pro in the air today... it flies pretty nice, stable and smooth. The rudder is confusing me, though. If I give right rudder, it immediately pitches back and to the left... and vice versa for left rudder (back and to the right)

Is there some setup in the 3gx that I missed or completed incorrectly?

Logo 500/500SE Parts Lot For Sale

I have a Logo 500/500SE arts lot for sale. It includes 6 tail booms (4 Carbon Fiber ones one of which is NIP and 2 aluminum ones), NIP spindles, NIP Tail Boom holder, a used but in good shape tail boom holder, and a pair of NIP grips. I also have a few plastic tail box holders I will include. The CF booms have to be cut to length for use with the 500 and will work perfectly for the 500SE. One of the AL booms is stock for the 500 and the other will have to be cut also. This is easily $$$$ in parts but I am going to sell them all for $75 shipped to the CON US. Paypal please. Pm me if interested........Ron
***I want to sell these as a lot so no splitting at this time.***
***Sorry about the dark pics, the flash is dead ****

I tried to fly it and it was weird, won't take off then takes off super fast all the sudden.

took the canopy off and checked it, the right servo was acting up, it won't move (but if I keep trying to move it, then it moves and later it stops). upon binding with tx, it always centers.

as I was doing this the front servo started to get hot and I can smell it just a little bit if I stick my nose on it and then it stopped moving at all.

can someone tell me what's going on?

Good video camera for night shoots?

What is a good video camera for shooting night flyer videos?

'good' as in it won't empty my bank account but yet give reasonable results.

I'd prefer something I can mount on a head band or hat so that I can capture exactly what I am looking at and also don't have to worry about having someone to man the camera.

I'm currently using a "Contour GPS" but it's fixed field of view ends up being way to wide to be able to concentrate on the bird and not end up with a speck of a bird in a wide expanse of nothing. Also, it's no-light is better than its low-light in that in low-light it gets really grainy.

Anyone have any suggestions based on what you use or have seen used?

Hi All,

I have just installed some Futaba 401 gyro's on my Photoship One 3X Gimbal, and when I hooked up my 1.2Ghz video downlink transmitter, the gyro's start moving.
I didn't have gyro's on my old gimbal, so haven't experienced this before.

Its definitely interference, as they start and stop in relation to where I am holding the TX downlink.

The Futabas and Avox servos are running into a Spektrum RX.

Anyone have any suggestions that doesn't involve me changing my 1.2Ghz frequency?

Help with electronics for new Logo 600se

Got a used logo 600se and first need to get a motor and esc (what kv would work thinking abouta scorpion HK-4035-630) i have to first off say my flight style is in no way expert. I fly my heli's just like one does an airplane flybys stuff like that so i want to get a motor and esc to do just that, nothing crazy no 3D. Hopefully this cuts the cost way down. I will be using 623mm blades and probably a 10S battery. The motor will need a 11t pinion from the previous owners suggestion.

Next is servos, knowing my style what would work? I want to stay with futaba servos, do i really need brushless like the site claims?

Getting a Vbar for sure but i do not know what the difference is between the normal and mini vbar.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Futaba issued a memo about the problem.
This has been beaten to death here at helifreak, but this is for the ignorant, like me.
I hate ripoffs. Something sickly about a man willing to take. 1/3 of my purchases here are sad stories BTW.

These Servos are in great condition from the outer case to the inside metal gears which i re-greased recently. The servo wires are 7 1/2 inches long which is shorter than some, so please be sure that they will be long enough for your heli, I had them on my 6hv and they were the perfect length. the connectors are in great shape and the wires quality mesh protecting them These Servos are 109.99 EA. New
I am asking 150.00 for all 3 this will include Shipping. so please no low ball offers.
you will also recieve 2 extra servo cases and backplates and 3 servo horns (i clipped the end off of one for clearance purposes on my 6hv)
Buy with confidence :)

My blade grips break for no reason

I have had this helicopter just over a week and I have gone through about 4 sets of blade grips. The balls connecting the grips to the swash plate keep breaking off mid flight. I am wondering if anybody else has had a similar situation or has any thoughts on why this might be happening. I figured I had been weakening them from previous crashes but now I know that is not the case. The last two sets I installed I just hovered with no previous crashes and In mid air I hear a snap and I loose control of the helicopter. It also toilet bowls really bad which may have somthing to do with it. This thing flys more like the sr 120 and not at all like a collective pitch hellicopter like I expected.

Any help is greatly appreciated. thank you

The blades on my SR keep hitting the tail boom causing the boom to bend and break parts. I have not had this helicopter very long and havent gotten much flight time out of it. I hover and when I go to land the blades keep hitting. I assumed before that it was the negative pitch. I would take the throttle all the way down when I went to land. Tonight I would get close and then hit the throttle hold so the pitch wouldnt change and I still hit the boom.

I cant find what im doing wrong. Help is greatly appreciated.

Hey all,
I got my Mini P almost a year ago and I finally got an FBL gyro and want to get her airborne. The Mini came with the servos installed already and I'm having trouble following the manual, on top of it I really don't have the time to sit down for a couple hours and get it all figured out. I'm using a Tarot ZYX fbl unit and am more fluent in setting up a more conventional heli like a TRex and am not sure which servo to plug where. Should I just look at the bird "backwards" of how I'd look at a Rex? The elevator servo is the front servo right? Feel like a total idiot but just don't have the time to put into her and I want to fly! Any help/suggestions would be fabulous, I've gone through the ZYX thread and there's not much initial setup help on there.
Thanks!

This is the Mikado Trex 700 flybarless conversion kit. Originally went for around $90 I think. All the extra align parts and Mikado parts are included also. Good way to get a flybarless head at the fraction of the price. Asking $45 and $5 for USPS Priority Mail shipping. Feel free to ask any questions. PM me or email me at w4hfv@juno.com for a faster response.

As we all know taking a Lipo below 3.8 volts isnt good practice, so why has Kontronik not given us a max setting of say 3.6 volts instead of 3.2??

To me this low max setting is making the Battery Empty feature useless. If your drawing massive amounts of current then a 3.2 volt setting would work due to larger voltage drop under load, yet even on my HKIII 4035 560 powered Goblin this 3.2 max voltage number is way to low.

I know people will say to use a timer, but why when the ESC has a feature to prevent drawing batteries to low?!?

Whats up Central / Western NC heli crew!

Welp, summer time in NC is HERE baby! Needless to say I'm excited, but writing this I am also deeply saddened. Seeing as it is summer and I'm in college (and hate warm weather) I will be as far away from the scorching eastern nc heat as possible and I'm going to miss the heck out of my NCSC crew.

Most of the summer I'm going to be in / around the Winston-Salem area, specifically God's country, aka, Davie County and also Foscoe, right up highway 105 from Boone. Long story short, I need to make some more heli friends I can fly with for the summer! I get to work my own hours so I'm pretty flexible as to when / where I can fly and wold love to meet up with some people around here.

I know there is a nice field out at Brownies house in Mocksville, but I think that is mostly plankers, regardless I know the property owner personally and he is a very close family friend, good enough he would probably run the plunkers off if we really wanted to fly ;)
I also live on a TON of land, we have about 100 aces worth of nothing but flat plowed fields, right on the Yadkin River, as well as a private airstrip 1/4 mile long, few hundred feet wide. Any weekend if anybody would like to come out and fly with me just shoot me a PM or text message and id be more than happy to have you out here.

Im even considering hosting a 'fun-fly' / cookout / night flying / beer drinking / bonfire / campout ordeal at some point this summer. I easily have the room and means to do it. It will not be sponsored / sanctioned, I guess its recommended you have AMA but if not, I really don't care, just don't pin it on me if anything happens. :thumb up: I know quite a few people that id love to have out, Tom and the boys, Paul, Ryan, Lincoln, David, the whole NCSC and Raleigh crew and anybody else that would like to come. We will just have to find a solid date that accommodates as many of us as possible. Good idea'r?

look forward to hearing from some people.
Btw, getting me a 500, no more e-razor thank GOD!

... left aileron seems weaker than right aileron . It seems my 120sr when given right aileron will dive to the right faster and deeper than when I give it left aileron . I think I can balance this out with the tx but I am just wondering if this is caused by the rotor being on the right or is there something else going on with my bird that I need to find and correct ?

Do I need anything besides the main gear and a new pinion?
Does the motor mount need to be changed?

Trex 250 Pro, Main shaft too short?

I have a Trex 250 Pro. When I installed the stock main shaft, I found that tightening the bottom bolt caused the washer to come into contact with the main gear's one way bearing. This prevented the ability of the main gear to auto rotate because it was firmly fastened to the bottom washer and bolt. When I took off the bottom bolt, I could see that the bottom end of the main shaft was not flush with the bottom of the one way bearing, in fact it was recessed so that when I tightened the bottom bolt, the bottom washer came into tight contact preventing auto rotation.

I had to purchase the "old" 250 main shafts that have a collar so that I could adjust the position of the mainshaft so as not to cause the problem described above. I am certain that the upper and lower bearing blocks are installed correctly. The main shaft seems to be just a hair too short.

Anyone else experience this?

Good day, I have been lurking on a number of forums trying to get a feel of which way to upgrade my helicopter status.

Last year I got one of those coaxial helis from a mall (I know, waste of time and cash) but it did allow me to know I really want to learn to fly a heli more. I already have 3 Rc trucks and have a charger capable of up to 6s lipos. The problem is my brain just can't get around the turning and pitching to control a hover with the coaxial. I have done a fair bit of flight sim on my computer using a throttle, collective, and foot pedals. Lots of crashes on ultra real mode initially but I got pretty good.

Our family does alot of camping and I would like something that would function in a camping area 20'x20' or even a big field. I have approximately 30'x30' in my back yard to practice in.

I am torn between 2 camps.

1) Get an intermediate model such as a Blade 120 or 130 fixed pitch heli that I can fly indoors or out in light wind and practice flying and getting used to normal types of heli controls. I have a 20x26 garage with a 9' ceiling to also practice in. or...

2) Go big or go home and get something like a blade 450 x level and slowly work my way up to more advanced types of stuff. This is realizing I would not be able to practice indoors and a large space would be required.

The other question is should I get a good transmitter and receiver then get a bind and fly heli or should I try to just get a ready to fly model realizing when I move up to a bigger heli that I will need a transmitter anyway....

Thank you

Luckily I was only about 3ft off the ground. The tail servo stuck & started to piro. I got it down without incident. After taking the servo apart and making sure the gears were OK, I hooked it back up. It will operate correctly intermittently. The rest of the time I have to "help" it with my hand.

Luckily I was only about 3ft off the ground. The tail servo stuck & started to piro. I got it down without incident. After taking the servo apart and making sure the gears were OK, I hooked it back up. It will operate correctly intermittently. The rest of the time I have to "help" it with my hand. I noted that the servo got much warmer than the other ones.

Can I get a little ZYX HELP???

I've got a Trex 250 V1. It came stock with the DS 410& DS 420 servos.
I'm trying to upgrade it to flybarless, using a Tarot ZYX gyro and (for now) the Tarot FBL head.

I've got my head around the build just fine; It's the setup(in the ZYX) that I don't get.
Mainly I don't know what the proper servo type is for the 410 & 420 servos- the whole microsecond/speed thing. None of those settings match anything I can find with respect to the Align stock servos.

Does anyone know what setting is the right one? Will those servos even work?

I've downloaded the software from john NZ, and have the USB programmer.
But that's for another day. Right now I just want to get everything ready to complete the build, and connect the servos.

Thanks, all~!

after my 4th flight today, all good. on my 5th one when I started to throttle up it acted really wierd, wouldn't get any power, thought it might be the 1-way but after looking, noticed the esc was missing one of those little crystals coming off the end of it.
What would cause this ?It doesn't seem to be getting hot at all and I have the batt connecters zip tied to the frame just so they wouldn't move them around any.
contacted helidirect with a message about it, should be covered under warranty, just bought it in feb. Has anyone else had this happen to them ?

Ok its only an mcpx crash but it could have been worse. I tryed to fly my mcpx earlyer and it crashed 5 times in a row trying to get it off the ground.

ends up my ale and rudder where reversed in the TX. also random sub trim had been added and all the travel adjusted where all over the place also.

I thought that was strange but no one i know said they have been messing with it and my 450 model memory is the same. same channels reversed. same amount of sub trim and travel adjusts.

both helis are FLB and ive never done it myself.

Good job i notest while flying the mcpx or it could of been more expensive.

Kind of lost trust in my DX6i

Ill be paying more attention on my pfc in future

So, been flying an MSR-X for about a month now, and have ordered an HK450 GT today, should be here within a week. My questions are:
1. What kind of tools will i need to get, and where would you advise getting them from?
2. I would like to get a fuselage, want to get into Scale flying, what should I get to accomplish this?
3. How hard is it to convert one to a flybarless setup, and maybe a 4 blade?

Sorry for being such a noob, but really loving my new hobby!! :fly

Metal Rakon Knockoff Head Review & Question

Hey guys.
Recently i purchased a metal upgrade package from Ebay. It comes with metal blade grips, metal swash, metal hub, metal main shaft and metal tailboom, all for roughly $35!! Incredible price, and looks to be a replica of the Rakon Heli upgrades.

Quality Review:

  Overall 8.75/10 stars

The swash plate is very good quality, only I had to loctite the pitch links on the swash, as I noticed that they were coming loose. After maybe 20+ dings and crashes and over 100+ flights, the metal swashplate holds itself together quite well, but is starting to accumulate some of that vertical bearing wiggle that the stock plastic swash used to have. No big deal, you cant feel the slop in the air (at least when flying on brushed power. Will go BL very soon)

Blade grips look very nice and shiny. Bearings are very smooth.

Metal hub: very shiny, but ran into an issue (which is easily fixable). The design of the hub has the dampeners spaced too close together, meaning that when the spindle is fully tightened, there is lateral play in the grips= EXTREME vibration in flight. To fix this, I used very small washers between the dampeners and the golden washers with the step on them. I also sanded the dampeners down just a little as the washers made the spindle assembly very tight and the grips were not able to swivel freely when the feathering shaft was fully tightened (i sanded the dampeners till the assembly swiveled freely)

Metal main shaft: Nice and shiny, but after about 3 crashes it became slightly bent and gave extreme vibration. Every crash after that, vibes got worse, so I switched back to CF shaft and it's all goood.

Metal tail boom: didn't even bother. It is longer then the stock one though.

Performance is very good with these parts. I wouldn't say that they have improved much over the stock plastic parts (and it hasn't decreased), but really all metal upgrades do are add looks, and a bit of weight.

NOW MY QUESTION:Halfway into a high speed pass from a dive, my mCPX started making thwapping noises, tail spun, and it vibrated itself out of the air till I hit TH 5ft off the ground. Upon examination, I found that the blade grip link ball has unscrewed itself in the air and flew away! Im surprised I didn't notice that the balls were screwed in, or else I would have loctited them too. Now I am missing one, *does any one know where I can buy extra balls such as these*? The head, like I said, very closely resembles the Rakon Heli design.

Hey pilots. I have this heli for sale and have put 7 flights on it total so far. It was built NEW from kit form and I added my electronics. This is the Elite series before Flybarless became the rage. The underslung flybar provided rolls and aerobatics quick and precise like FLB of today. Super Stable as well for any intermediate pilot. I never got around to flying her at all. I did fly her once more to test all electronics before listing. This is the same manufacturer as the Dragoness. I did a 4 minute 3D routine right on my street and she is ready for the new owner. This is in NEW condition period. No scratches anywhere. (Bottom of the skids is a given lol) Canopy is Gorgeous fliberglass. Carbon frames, carbon boom, etc. Please see photos. Here is what is included.

-RCer Vision 450PRO Full Carbon and Aluminum
-3 Hitec HS-65MG servos purchased NEW for this heli
-1 JR DS 290G Digital Tail Servo
-AR6100e Spektrum Receiver
-SJGD PG-800 with External Programming Module Gyro. ( Same as Spartan DS760 -Gyro performance) This is SOLID tail lock and piro rate PERIOD for any Flybar heli.
-Carbon Align Tail blades
-Carbon Align Flybar Paddles
-Hyperion Carbon Main blades
-Align 35X ESC
2 near new 2200mah 3s lipos

Offers are now being entertained. This kicks any Align 450 heli by far. Fly's with the feel of a 550 size. I am not sure what to ask for this. Offers are not being taken. Thanks!!

Just thought I'd introduce myself to you all. Been reading threads for about year and really haven't had the need to post yet. But that changed when I traded some RC cars for a Trex 500 and an "in pieces" Trex 450

Trex 500 is complete and flyable, but it has the CJY Total G system in it and it doesn't appear to like my DX6i. Have an email into those folks as the symptoms match a couple of other users and needs to be sent in for the DMX upgrade.
Specs as follows:
500 ESP FBL
TT tail
RJX FBL head
Align Extreme 3d swash
New Fusino canopy
Castle ice 75 ESC
Castle vertigo 1706 motor
Curtis total G FBL unit
Curtis G-view 2 unit
3 Spectrum sat receivers
3 9650 Futaba digital servos (upgraded with metal gear sets $$)
Align high speed tail servo

Looks like the 450 is an older SE V1 model and will be fun putting back together. Got it 90% complete and the rest of the parts needed are on order.

So I'll be pinging for setups, tips and tricks as I've only flown a Blade 120sr, and not very well yet.

Walkera RX for a Trex Clone - Possible or Not?

I have a v200d03 and just got a trex clone - but it came with a super cheap "generic" TX so I figured I would simply use my existing DEVO 7 Transmitter for my Trex Clone - but is it possible?

Can I use this RX http://www.wowhobbies.com/devorx601receiver.aspx

I read somewhere that the 601 is compatible with devo 7

QUESTION: is this an "All-in-One" RX? with gyro built in? Flybarless?

QUESTION: Is the RX flybarless? My other walkera v200d03 is flybarless and uses "walkera Receiver RX2618V-D" - Should I get this rx instead or can I get the devo 601 (the 601 is so much cheaper)

QUESTION: how does this affect my trex clone that has a flybar? (I am guessing I dont use the existing gyro that came with the trex clone anymore, because these rx are "all-in-one" units, right?)

Is all so confusing LOL!

Thanks

I just received my first synergy(n5c)
I have to say this is truly an amazing quality, beefy bird. I wonder If I found a contender for my fury 55. Kudos to Matt
I have to honestly say it is the best bird I have ever had the chance to own an I have had about 17 helis altogether.
The design and quality is impeccable
Just had too say:peace

Well.. after 75 cycles both my GA 6s5300's pooped out. Same thing on both packs.. started with one cell loosing balance... then swelling.. then actual leaking (smelly!) after a flight. I wonder if those aluminum plates helped them to leak since it really doesn't allow room for swelling.

The 4000's are doing superb but I am only at 50 cycles.

I think next I'm going to try the HD Pulse lipos. I've heard good things.

I STILL have yet to go over 100 cycles on any pack in 4 year :) And I am talking a LOT fo packs with having own 9 different helis now and 3000+ flights. Maybe it's just not possible.

I take meticulous care too. One thing that might have contributed... I do balance charge at high rates... 3C is my typical charge and sometimes 4C. But I'd rather get new lipos once in a while then sit an extra 20 minutes waiting for packs.

I'm only about a week and a half into flying the mcpx...my first cp heli.

Hovering outside and inside in a 6x6' space and able to fly forward and backward in control.

Right now I'm using the blades with the "bullet" on the leading edge. "Fast forward flight".

Would I be any better off with the "high performance" blades?

Tail problem found!!!

I've been having a hard time getting the tail to behave correctly. No matter how much gain I added I still had a sloppy, lazy tail that would kick out on a light pitch increase. Last saturday while trying to get the vbar setup done the tail just started moving right and wouldnt respond to input. Well here is the cause...

Attachment 317175 (http://www.helifreak.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=317175)

Tail shaft was basically spinning inside the drive gear. Not sure why because I've never had the tail rotors touch anything. Not even grass. It's only had a few hovers and never "flown". With the soft start on the esc I can't imagine what would cause this. I replaced it with the aluminum gear. Also I found 3 of the 4 tail grip bearings to be very rough and notchy so I also replaced those as well. Now this thing is smoother than glass!
