Dampers:

Squishy dampers allow the blades to travel more vertically when force is applied. hard dampers will oscillate at low head speeds since the blades can't move as freely, but will perform better (read more crisp) when the headspeed is higher. squishy dampers will allow the blades to get to the boom or get a "woof n poof" effect. most boom strikes are caused by too much elevator, mostly during backwards flight. for example, a forward flip doesn't exert as much pressure on the blades towards the boom as a backwards flip.
