MikeCrasher I think I'm due for a replacement - after 70 or so flights, I just wanted to verify - if you rotate by hand, the main rotor blades clockwise as viewed from above (normal rotation) things spin fine...BUT if you rotate by hand counter clockwise (trailing edge first), should the main rotor blades also spin? I can't remember whether it did ....but I think things are slipping and I'm losing tail rotor speed. The tail rotor of course goes backwards as well. I have been recently battling what started out as a right drift of the tail, and now a piro with the tail swinging right. I'd previously found the setscrew holding the tailrotor on the shaft was loose, had a broken belt (completely worn out) and replaced the belt, took off the idler pulley. My 401 Gyro is functioning and I'm running in HH. It is now to the point that full right rudder (to bring the nose right, tail back left) will not stop the piro. The tail slider controlled by the gyro servo is at the farmost stop on the shaft, so the only thing I'm thinking of is the rpms of the tail rotor are too low for the torque produced. There is no belt slippage. Can anyone confirm if you've had this experience, and also if you can rotate by hand the main rotor counter clockwise while at rest and powered down?

Thanks Mike

The HS1218-84 was just a suggestion not a recommendation, the bearing is the same.

Lol, I got u. I did ask if there was an upgrade.... and extra 10 bucks to have the new v2 gear seems like a smart investment. I apologize for misinterpreting your suggestion and a recommendation I appreciate the help. I am not one to spend money to get a 'blinged' heli, but I do know I cant afford to have problems with cheap mechanical parts.

Thanks too gary for the info on the belt.

Gary JP4 No for me too.

You asked about the blue gear with the metal hub and I was just telling you you can use either one.

Both the old and new (V2) SE use the longer belt. The longer belt goes with the longer boom on teh SE.

trireme So this is what you are recommending? HS1218-84 -- Main Gear Set (Blue)

It comes with a tail drive gear right? What is the difference between HS1202 -- Pro Tail Drive Gear and HS1220-84 -- Autorotation Drive Gear.

Also, I see that Tech Model has a high performance one way... and it cheaper then the align one way.... Is it any better???

Another thing... I notice there are two difference belt lengths available, what is that for?? Which one is for the SE?
Thanks for all the help!

Gary JP4 The new gear with the metal hub is interchangeable with the old one. You can use the same one way and collar.

Replace it!

Maybe worse then not allowing an auto is to have it slip and not have power.

●Use for TREX450 XL/CF/SE/S(tail drive gear 25T)

so it looks like you can use the new V2 main gear on older machines

trireme Upon removal of the main gear and tail drive gear, they where still really solid. I had a really hard time separating the one-way from the shaft collar. I had to put the screw in the tail drive gear to hold the shaft collar, and then I was able to force the one-way and separate it.

I cleaned it thoroughly by putting TriFlow in the oneway, spinning the two gears, and then removing the excess oil from the collar. I repeated this several times until the oil was coming out clean. The bearing is operational, but makes a clicking noise when the clutch is free. 26 flights on this one-way bearing... thats a little disappointing. From the looks of it I need to replace the collar and the the little ring offset on top of the gear along with the bearing.

It seems from what I have read, other people get 100's of flights on a bearing... right? Just bad luck??

Thanks for the suggestion on the V2 Gear.... Can anyone confirm that? It looks like a pretty heavy duty upgrade.... I was under the belief that the spindle was thicker on the V2, so I fear I cant use any of the v2 drive train?

Brent@paradise The Algin one-way bearing HF0612 x 1(Φ6xΦ10x12mm) INA Made in Germany
Don't know about the shaft collars is that on the version 2 T450?
On the T450 V1 thay just press into the main gear.

trireme Well... I dont feel great about it, I assume that an autorotation would not be so wonderful with the motor engaged.... and I have actually had two autos in the past 8 flights. So I dont think I will risk it.

Is the normal align one way good enough? Is there a good upgrade?

And I notice that the shaft collar sells in sets of two... does that mean it causes failure more then the bearing fails? I assume if the collar failed, the bearing wouldnt hold in either direction, instead of holding in both, but I am curious about why they sell you two.... but only one bearing.

thanks.

Brent@paradise The cheapest thing to do is just replace the one way bearing.
You can buy a "K10273A - One-way Bearing Removal" which helps with the replacement.
I have a t450se ver 1 I think you can use the new Ver2 main gear and one way bearing, maybe someone that has done that can comment.

As for safely useing your old one, as long as it still drives the main shaft... your call.

My one way has gone two way!

So I assume I need to order a new oneway bearing, it still works for flight, but in auto it would drive against the motor....

First... what the upgrade one way... and if it really expensive, buts the best cheaper alternative.

Second... Is it safe to keep flying on it until a new one arrives??
