bullet3030 All good options . I might be on the edge to invest for a quality device for multiple use ore just a cheap one for hobby use only. Will sleep a few nights on it.

jhamel Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. As I was researching the HP Stream 7 you recommended, I came across the Winbook TW801 which has a regular size USB 3.0 port, and the Winbook TW802 which has a regular size USB 2.0 port. Both Winbooks may have been a better option for me because of the regular size USB ports.

However, in the end, I decided on the HP Stream series. I purchased the HP Stream 11 Signature Edition. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ustomerReviews.

isogloss3d That's the new Micro B USB 3.0 port, surprised to see it on the HP Stream. It's backwards compatible with 2.0 as you only use the 2.0 portion of the port.

A simple Micro B USB 2.0 to Mini B USB should work for you.

jhamel Micro-B USB used on the HP Stream 7

Micro USB

Mini USB used on FBL systems and Castle Link

jhamel I am checking out the cables in Amazon. I looks like the micro-B USB is different to the micro USB. The HP Stream 7 requires a micro-B USB connector. The FBL units generally require a mini USB connector. I cannot find a micro-B USB to mini USB cable. Where can I find such a cable or adapter?

isogloss3d Yes, micro-B USB has power just like standard USB.

jhamel The specs on the HP Stream 7 states that it has a micro-B USB 2.0 port. I am only familiar with the regular USB ports. Would that micro-B USB 2.0 port supply power to the Castle and FBL units without having to connect a LiPo? My regular computer USB ports supply power to those units without needing to connect a LiPo.

Skidpad HP Stream7...i have a buddy who has one... He runs iKon, BD, Castle...and his Phoenix sim on it (!). About $100, and has also been recommended by several 'freaks... We'll worth the $, and about as perfect a field terminal as you could ever get. Oh, has Bluetooth, also.

Small Windows computer for the field -- any recommendations?

I am tired of dealing with the small field terminals for the different FBL units. I want to tweak the FBL units at the field with a computer.

I have been using Mac computers at home since 2008. My MacBook Pro is just too big to take to the field. I am not up to date with the Windows based options or what to look for.

I want either a tablet or a small Windows based laptop to be used exclusively for tweaking helicopter electronics. It will need a minimum of 1 USB port, an acceptable battery life for field use, and the smaller the better. Older model or refurbished is OK.

I am unclear what the minimum requirements in terms of RAM, HD capacity, type of processor, etc. I should look for to run the Castle, VBar, Skookum, BeastX, Bavarian Demon, etc. software. I imagine that the computing needs would be minimal, but I do not know what they are.

Any recommendations on what I should look for?
