snjbird | If you want to run 14T on the 430XL you need good packs! I have a great camera man/boy, it is the girlfriends son, he is 11, I call him King Rat, cause he is the oldest rugrat!

Bob O | Holy crap jbird! Did the camera man get sick trying to follow you? That video sure is a testament to the gyro. Great flying!

thanks Andy, i'll have a look now atually, can barely afford any bits right now, but good to know for future reference. tried the 11T on there this morning, "easy handling" was probably a decent way to describe it, but a little too mellow after using the 13T, don't have a 12T right now to try, think i'l chuck the 13T back on as it at least seems a bit more stable with high negative collective. I can live with a little bit of bogging at the moment if it's not killing my motor (it didn't seem to mind too much!). |

I saw a shop in Oz selling Scorpion 2221-8 motors for about AU$70 recently, but I can't remember where. My 430L ran hot in summer, so I changed to a -8 and it runs much cooler. Colin |

wish i had the money for it at present, looks like a good deal.. I'll play around with an 11T and 12T, see how different it feels, guess if i really want to increase the headspeed i'll just have to wait a little... anyway, it's not like I'm not havin fun with it as is. thanks for the views and sharin yer knowledge on it, i like this forum! |

12t wont bog so bad on a 430L 430xl is just a stronger motor no on the 430x the 2 new align motors are sweet and the 430xl is still a great motor for the 450. all the new align motors work perfect with the 13t. most of the older ones were 12t motors |

sweet.. yeah, it's 3550kv, glad i put that out there before trying it. motor doesn't seem to overheat, and the lipo's are fairly cool with the 13T on, would there be any advantage in using a 12T on this? the 430XL will have to wait...(it has more torque does it? or is it just the higher kv?) what about the 430X? thanks |

What kv is your motor, 3150, 3550, or higher? 13T is recommended on the 3150kv. So 13T would be max on the 3550kv motor. The 430L series motors are not exactly known for great power. And you certainly don't want to "over-gear" a weak motor. You might consider upgrading the motor to a 430XL or bigger. |

lol No! use a 12t on that motor [depending on paticular KV] |

14t pinion on a 430L HI, would one of you freaks mind explaining to me what happens if i chuck a 14t pinion onto the 430L motor in my T rex? I know that the headspeed will be increased, but how does this affect bogging? my understanding is that a more powerful motor with a smaller pinion would deliver more torque - less bogging..? but what would i get by chucking a 14t on my current set up with 325mm CF blades on it? i've just started doing some mild 3D (stoked!!) and feeling like a little more headspeed could mean more stability and pop, at present I'm using a 13T pinion and my throttle curve at idle up is 100-97-95-97-100, my pitch curve is linear with about 11 degrees neg and positive @ max pitch. I'm still trying to understand the dynamics of power - pinion - blade - pitch dynamics, any explanations of this would be very appreciated. i call you freaks in the highest regard... |
