I have been contmplating on what 450 size machine to buy now for awhile. I started a thread on the main page and got alot of good information and ofcourse those who own a certain brand are biased towards that machine. The thinkg I like about trex is the super combos which take alot of theguessing out of the mix like which servos and motor. Im sure there are better electronics but it is a great start in my opinion. I currently own 2x trex 500's and the new 600efl pro which I love them all. I would like to know your thoughts on this new model in comparison to the older ones, what do you like and what dont you like about it? A few big pluses is the fact it already comes flybarless and the builds are very straight forward. I looked at the furion 450 but the build turned me off. I have an 18 month old who loves grabbing stuff off the table and eating them especially small parts that I need!
One of the other helis I was looking at is the outrage g5/mini titan/protos mini and beam e4. All looks great but some are difficult to get parts for, no flybarless head for some and ofcourse the fact that I will have to hunt for all electronics is a turn off. I like the g5 because it runs on 6 cell, but I also heard some guys are using 6s on the new trex 450.....is there truth to this? I apreciate any information you guys can give me because I am very close to pulling the trigger and I found a spot to get the super combo at an excellent price.

Disclaimer: I'm not a Pro pilot. Currently working on inverted backwards circuits, but no piro flips yet.
I've had all the Trex 450's since the XL to the Pro V1. The G5 and a Protos 500. I have to say the 450 Pro with FBL (Beastx V1.x) on 6S is the best heli I've had. - Don't have to worry about killing someone because of dog walkers. - Very stable in the wind. It puts up with wind better than I do, especially when it is cold. If it is 7 degrees C and blowing 15 mph winds, my hands are cold and my eyes are tearing there is no fun. What's the point of having a bigger heli if I'm not up for it. - Just as stable as my Protos 500 ever was with FBL. - More solid than the G5 and lots of shops for spares - MSH LG far better than G5 CF/GF LGs - I took the motor/esc/LiPos from the G5 for the 450 Pro V1 when I retried the G5 - No need for special FBL blades. I'm using $12 yellow/black CF blades from ebay. Love the high visibility. - Low maintanence. > 500+ flights YTD and haven't had to change a thing. No need to check belt tightness etc. - List goes on Last edited by TRex888; 09-14-2011 at 11:38 AM.. |

I'd rather pick my own electronics on the front end so I don't have to upgrade in the back end, but that's just me. if you do go with align then definitely pick up the fbl super combo since they are priced so reasonably. You can alway resell the electronics if you decide to upgrade. Finding parts for the align kits is going to be the easiest since they are the moat popular.

I have the stock servos and they are working great. Really like the machine a lot. I upgraded to the CC Ice Lite 50 and Beastx and she flies phenomenally.
Highly recommend V2 The one-piece head is great too. Now the phasing is done for you I agree that the super combo is a great deal. The only reason I upgraded to the Ice 50 is because I like the logging and governor. The 35X is fine and I've used it many times with no issues. A lot of guys really like the 3GX but personally I'm a Beastx guy S

I'm basically in Walkera, since the 2801 pro gives me 8 profiles, and I have two of them.
For me.. the 2702V RX does the trick for me on my V450, and 450 EXI kit. Seems very stable even when it does get windy. And I did have a broken EXI 250 because of tail problems. After long thought on what I wanted to do with it, I ended up making it FBL with the 2702V and to my pleasant surprise, it hovered with no fuss. The tail held (lil spongy) good enough for a 7 min hover in my bedroom. I'd say if you find a good product you can trust, go for it.

From the "big picture" POV, I can confidently say I have NEVER ONCE regretted buy a TREX 450 Pro. Considering parts cost and availability, flight characteristics, and looks the Pro wins hands down IMO.
Rave: $, parts supply, cost, glass jaw in crashes Furion: Same as rave but building skills are more critical Beam: Same as rave but part are scarce but not as "glass jaw" in crashes. Hirobo: Parts, cost PRO: Overall, best value...great all around, nothing to complain about, I've struggled hard not to buy a "Nice New 450" to play with over the last year, and every time I do some research I am reaffirmed that mostly all other 450s will not bring me the pleasure of the pro. To each their own but I am perfectly happy with my Pro and have no desire to replace it. Hope this helps. I'm not being subjective here, trying to be objective. Looks can sway people though, no matter what, if you are stuck on looks, it can really determine your choice whether good or bad.

Performanceplusrc for $460
I am loving mine. My two front servos failed after only 100 flights, but they were pretty active flights. Replaced w/ MKS DS92s. To be honest, I can't feel the speed difference, sos stock servos are pretty decent, dewspite failing. I like the FBL feel of this little heli, flies straight and true, just trying to find a setup that will support a more aggressive style of flying.

Paired my 3GX up today w/ a set of Mavrikk FBL and I think I found my winning combo. I can now push the gains up a bit w/o overshooting and the heli flies around extremely well. The blades will even smack a bit w/ the rates turned up a bit as the Mavrikks are 35g a piece compared to 25g for the Radix and Align FBL. This extra mass makes this an autoing dream for a 450! I will try some inverted autos on a breezy day!
