I need some encouragement. I currently fly a Mini Titan for my 450 size bird, but have been reading this forum and looking at videos of the Mini P. I guess I don't really "need" one, but are there any convincing arguments out there as to why I "should" get one? Is it going to be way above and beyond my MT?
Frankly, I'm considering passing my MT down to my son, and moving on to a new bird. But, I have a spare MT kit that I was using for replacement parts, and all it's missing is landing gear, flybar and spindle. I could easily buy those and he can build his first. Other than having a "new shiny", what would be a solid reason for picking this up? Parts support is nil in my neck of the woods, hell, Align parts are an extreme pain to come by. It seems all anyone carries on a regular basis is Blade. If I do, I'm considering the combo with the YGE/motor, and prob HS5065s and GY520/JR3500. I just picked up a 520 for my 250SE and am loving it! Probably will replace the CSM on my Swift with one too!

I'm hoping mine will be a xmas gift (as I do not have one) and like you, I have a MT. However, it seems parts are cheap...just order online...usually hobby shops don't carry what I need anyway, it just requires a bit more preparation (buy the parts in advance)... I've seen one of these fly...and it's WAY nicer than the MT LOL...and because I fly Flybarless, having an actual 450 designed for FBL flight is always handy... It seems to be a more solid unit...and who'd you trust more? Asian or Italian made? I'll take Italian ANY day lol.

MiniP is the absolute best 450 on the market right now (and long will be, I'd bet). It's silent, light, beautiful, simple design makes it very easy to fix. I have yet to change a worn out part. Crashes are cheap, price per crash can be compared to fixing a full plastic MT. You can get a naked kit for parts or buy a big box of crash parts and not burn a big hole in your credit card. This, along with Ferrari, is one of two pieces of Italian machinery I'd buy anytime You don't need a solid reason. Buy it and never look back.

The worst part of the heli is canopy grommets
![]() Seriously, this heli is as close to flawless as it can be, get it, you won't regret it. For me the biggest trouble is that when it comes to choosing 600 or 700 heli, there is not much to choose from without paying through the roof to get the same quality as mini protos, just because you get used to this quality and won't accept anything below. MSH should come up with a 600/700 size heli - quick

[QUOTE=AcidDrink;3347972]The worst part of the heli is canopy grommets
![]() Yeah there are some out there that don't like there Protos much but seem to have quite a few of them.... Seriously though I got lucky and found the Protos line early on. The fit and finish is second to none, They fly beautifully right out of the box. There are plenty of dealers that offer great parts support for the few that are out there compared to other lines. I find working on mine is just about effortless and a rare occasion other than basic check over pre/post flights. I might be a bit bias but I do have a few other helis and really just use them for beaters now. I can't say enough for the entire MSH line. As others have stated I too think it is the best 450 out there now and you cannot go wrong with adding one to your collection. |

Thank you all for your input. I will keep watching this to see what others have to say, and will def let you all know if I take the Mini P plunge!
Another Q, does anyone know what kind of spec I'd need to shrink the Protos 500 in Phoenix to get an accurate Mini P? I tried just downsizing the model, but for some reason I ran into things like insufficient lift... :-/

Reminds me of Catholic school where the nuns told us that even the thought of a sinful action was already a sin!
C'mon... isn't there anything close?

If the mini Protos is built as good as the 500, I couldn't fault it.

If flying space isn't a concern, should I just go with the 500? Is the Mini P better than it's big brother?

In some ways, yes! The tail pitch mechanism is brilliant, the tail boom block mount is improved, and it comes stock with a pinion bearing. It's obvious they are related, but the Mini has some nice improvements.
It flies better than I ever could have imagined, by FAR the best flying 325mm heli I've owned or flown.

The 500 is a better flying bird though. I have some tail issues on mine but its because I need a better servo. My mini has a beastx and my 500 has a sk360 and gy401. The mini is sharp and quick. The 500 is smooth and fast and powerful.

Anybody have any opinions on how the Mini P stacks up to the Beam E4?

The Beam is OK and the components are nicely made but it is plagued with vibration issues, when I contacted Beam about this they told me my tail gain was too high and then stopped corresponding with me. No doubt if you had a problem with your Protos, Corrado would go out of his way to fix it (as has been demonstrated many times). My Protos is much better built, has no vibe issues and has great support from the manufacturer. I now have a 450 pro clone for my 450 duties which I actually rate over the Beam which is now a waste of money sitting in parts in a box.
