Hello everyone, I would like to know which helicopter is better in overall quality of the materials, performance and ease to fly and replace parts.
To begin with I don't really know if walkera is one of those companies that one can trust since it does not have an official website just for walkera products and infact it seems like a helicopter that goes in the same category as a hobby grade mall kiosk helicopter (Can't find other words to describe it) and I notice that some of the parts on walkera helicopters are used in other brandless helicopter models and that many of the electronics look cheap (like the radio receiver) although I will admit they do look like time has been put into making them and they look cool. Also I can't seem to find spares in the Helipal website. On the other hand the eflite/blade 450 3D comes from a very trusted and popular company (I may be wrong) with high quality electronics and materials and it looks just as cool as the walkera helicopters. In the end I ask which is better overall. |

Walkera is a good company. Their helicopters are similarly made as Eflite birds. The components in both brands are meant to be a more affordable solution in this hobby. Walkera is definitely not one of those 'mall brand' companies. Their machines fly very well, and especially their newer lineup, like the v120d02s and mini cp. The quality of parts is roughly the same, you'll have problems with both brands, especially if you crash a lot.
The creata 400 is not really a competitor for the blade 450. The V450D01 would be more suited for that. That said, they're pretty much going to perform the same, with the flybarless V450 having an edge. The newer blade 450x would be a better match for the walkera. The new 450x, since it is a newer machine, will probably outperform the V450 by a bit. The metal servo gears in the V450 are better than the Eflite servos, so they're more likely to stand up to a crash. The walkera helicopters usually have a nice power plant, and a good flybarless system. Most of their newer birds are flybarless, so they've been operating with this technology for quite a while now... They have it down. Parts are available for walkeras at four different US based websites, and can be at your door in 2-3 days for a few bucks. A local hobby shop will likely carry Eflite products, but ordering over the net is easier for me with Eflite and walkera, as my hobby shop is about 30 miles away and I'm a lazy driver. Walkera also makes some great radios/receivers. I wouldn't dis them too much. I use the walkera 2801 pro radio on all of my birds, and will be switching to the walkera devo 12s sometime. I've never had a radio problem with any of my birds, including my two 450 Align machines and my Trex 600 pro. The radios are arguably the best electronic components that walkera makes. All in all, walkera is a great brand and sells great products. Some people, just like in the Eflite forums, have problems with certain parts. This will happen with any brand; you'll even see this in the Align forums, too. If I were to purchase a nice, new helicopter to fly, I'd probably go with either the new Blade 450x, or the V450D01. Both will perform very well. I wouldn't choose an older Creata 400 bird, given the newer, more advanced designs on the market.

Blade 450. Don't get me wrong, I like Walkera and even had 2 Creata. That said, they're a 2009 model that I think is being phased out. If you're interested in a Walkera 400, I'd suggest the Hiko.
Also, the Creata is not a CCPM heli. It has a 4th pitch servo underneath the main gear. It may be a little harder to repair if you're new. |

Probably made overseas, like most electrical components of pretty much any affordable brand. The receivers aren't that bad, in the new models anyway. The one in that picture, which as you mentioned comes from a different helicopter (the V120D02S, in fact) is a great receiver, with a very good micro fbl system integrated into it. That receiver is arguably the single best flybarless unit of any sub-200 sized helicopter. The older models aren't too bad, either, but if you're going to go with walkera, go for the new lineup, like the V-series (V450D01, V200D03, V120D02S, etc.). They will be the best products so far.
Stay away from small flybars
