Default Sluggish after more upgrades.

So I have pretty much everything upgraded, and after the last two addons the batteries have a hard time keeping up. Flight times are lower and the power is definitely noticeable, mid way through flight im at 100% throttle to get the thing up into the air.

Not to mention im already using better 190mah miniaviation batteries.

Anyone else experience this?

Mods below -

Xtreme MSR canopy
Xtreme mCPX landing skids w/tail boom support
RKH Head
RKH Blade Grips
RKH Collar
RKH Main Frame
RKH Tail Motor Mount w/Delrin
mCPX Extended Boom
KBDD mCPX Tail Rotor

The only thing I DONT have is the RKH swash, but its on its way along with a CF tail fin.

I was going to upgrade the batteries anyways, to the mCPX 300mah miniaviation, now I feel like I HAVE to because it feels so sluggish.

Or perhaps its my motor giving out like others have experienced. Maybe I will try to swap the motor first.

Waynkel,

The RKH frame and Tail Motor mount add weight. If you using the landing gear with the aluminum skids they add significant weight. I put them on my mCP x, and they slowed it down and reduced flight time. I would be surprised that the mSR x could even get off the ground with them. If you are using those skids, put the stock landing gear back on and see if that takes care of the problem.

The 300mah batteries will not add any extra performance. They only add extended flight times and more weight.

I like to bling my helis up also. But in the case of the mSR x you can only add so much weight before there is a significant degradation in performance.

I understand the weight added, and I noticed a difference when I added the xtreme mcpx skids but it was not too drastic, its a pretty drastic change as of late, so im more inclined to think the motor may be giving out. I just wanted to see if anyone had any similar experience as I know there are a lot of mSRX's modded similar to mine.

I will do as you suggested though and see if I see a difference with the stock skids.

And yeah it sounds like your main could be going... or if the batts or getting up there in cycles maybe they could be the culprit. I try to keep at least 1 extra motor on hand always. Hope this helps ...

Definitely sounds like a motor problem to me, had something similar happen to mine... after doing extensive research I picked up a couple of main motors (1 to keep as extra) while I wait on Horizon Hobby to send my backordered warranty replacement motor (free!) just in case something like this happens again.

I am also running all RKH minus the new frame (next upgrade) and skids so I seriously doubt that is the issue...

I also read this information somewhere, do you know if its .5 including the main frame though? Thats a fairly new part and those stats may have not included it.

If not included the difference between the stock and RHK main frame is 0.51, so in total it would be about 1 gram.

When I get home I will weigh the mCPX xtreme skids and stock skids and compare those, to see the weight gain.

I will give all weights based on Rakons website.

Frame: Stock 1.86 - RKH 2.37
Tail mnt.: Stock .19 - RKH .21
Collar: Stock .06 - RKH .03
Grips: Stock .42 - RKH .37
Head: Stock .21 - RKH .24
Swash: Stock 1.17 - RKH 1.19

Totals Stock 3.91 - RKH 4.41

Difference .5 gram with frame

BUT WAIT!

Rakon now offers Landing gear for our lil mSR X now as well!!!!

L. Gear: Stock .82 - RKH 1.70

Thats .88g added just by gear.... think they are cool looking, and will probably get a set.. but prolly wont fly with them alot.

Tail Fin 0.02 0.2
Motor Mount 0.19 0.21
Landing Skid 0.82 1.7
main shaft collar 0.06 0.03
Main frame 1.86 2.37
blade grips 0.42 0.37
Rotor Hub 0.21 0.24
Swash plate 1.17 1.19

Total 4.75 6.31

With all the upgrades their is 1.56 grams difference. The numbers on the left are stock and the ones on the right, the RKH upgrades.

A swashplate and bladegrips are really all thats really needed. The rest adds weight and is just bling. May the hub and collar but.........

Would be nice if the mount was interchangeable and we could easily mod this thing.

I had listed these already. The frame is brand new, and all previous upgrades were only .5 gram over.

This post has that info, as well as one other.

Thanks for pointing that out, but it has been covered.

Also you have the fin weight listed as stock .02 and Rakon .2
According to the Rakon site, the CF tail is lighter weight than stock. Website lists CF as weighing .26 as well.

I left the tail fin off my list because I do not know the stock weight of the tail fin. It is the one item Rakon doesnt have a picture for.

We have both forgot to add the delrin motor protector... add 1 gram.

I actually took that off last night and added a piece of shrink tubing, that delrin piece is worthless.
