You won't find them on eBay cheap. You might as well buy one off here or buy a new kit on Helidirect.

Grab the HC500 version, I don't think you'll find the HDX500 SAS/SAH no more, might as well just get the HC500 and have everything you'll eventually start changing over too.

NOTHING on a 450 will work on a 500. Completely different class much more power and much more stregnth needed. Only thing that will work from what I see in your signature is the RX and Gyro/tail servo.

At minimum you'll need a 60A ESC, a good motor like a Scorpion 3025 or if you buy the HC500 the Outrage/HDX motor it comes with, good servos, you got a wide pick from Hitec HS-81, HS-82 and HS-85 and a large verity of options.

Question Servo options for a 500 size heli.

How about the Hitec HS-5085MG servos for the cyclic of a HDX 500 / HC 500 ?

Just looking at the specs. for Hitec's HS-82MG - HS-85MG - HS-5085MG.

HS-82MG -> 2.8kg-cm. - 0.12 secs. @ 4.8V. - - - 3.4kg-cm. - 0.10 secs. @ 6.0V.
Analog servo. US $26.36 each.

HS-85MG -> 3 kg-cm. - 0.16 secs @ 4.8V. - - - 3.5 kg-cm - 0.14 secs @ 6.0V.
Analog servo. US $34.14 each.

HS-5085MG -> 3.6kg-cm. - 0.17 secs. @ 4.8V. - - - 4.3kg-cm. - 0.13 secs. @ 6V.
Programmable / Digital servo. US $30.50 each.

Noticed that the 5085 is from 0.05 seconds ( 4.8V ) & 0.04 ( 6V ) seconds slower than the other two.
On the plus side, its programmable & digital - higher output & a lot more 'holding' for use on the cyclic.

Those prices are correct according to an on-line shop's web site, haven't ordered anything through them myself as yet.

Shipping is also FREE !

85MG's are the servos that everyone typically gets for the 500, but I'm a 82MG guy personally. that's why my cyclic is just so snappy quick.

Digital servos I think are just power-vacuums. I haven't found a difference between them other than one is a hog and the other isn't.

None of the recommended servos are.. lol But you put in whatever you want.

Personally a digital servo doesn't justify the $15 extra per a servo. I'd rather just get some amazing HS-82MG's and save myself some money on something that dosen't matter. But if you're going to get the 85's than you might as well get the digital ones I guess, up to you!

I don't care if they are digital or not as they work flawless and are not power suckers.

I just put the ino-lab 250's in my protos. They seem good with alot less slop than the 82's in my HC500 and I got em for about $23 a piece. They are also digital but for me it makes no difference. Got em from hobbycity when I ordered some batteries.

I have put 3 x Ino-lab HGD-260MG for my cyclic in my HC500. They work fine and are inexpensive. I just saw them in special at $18.80 from HobbyCity.
They are digital and metal gear.

Oo, I'm going to have to get some of those maybe...

I never heard much on the brand and what I have heard they were expensive, seems not so much now! How do they compare to the Hitec's reputation for being able to get brutal crashes and low failure rates?

The less slop issue appeals to me. Mine don't have slop but at center they have a tiny hair of a jiggle.

Unhappy HC / HK servo prices listed today.

Just checked the HobbyCity / HobbyKing on-line site.

' jacquesjb ' must have got them on one of the few days HC had them on a VERY low ' SALE ' price day - that's gone now.

Just to compare them to the Hitec brand servos for a 500 sized heli - - -

INO-LAB HGD digital 260MG MetalGear Servo.

Speed - 0.16 sec/60deg.
Stall Torque - 3.2kg.
Dynamic - 2.7kg.
Weight - 21g.
Size - 38 x 30 x 13mm.

COST = US $41.90 [ Sale ! ] Add postage onto that.

Brand has a good reputation & back-up service down here in Oz.

Have 3 x INO-LAB HG-D760MG servos waiting to go onto the swash on my Hirobo Sceadu Evo 50
Speed - 0.9sec/60deg @ 6V.
Stall Torque - 9.6kg. @ 6V.

Again, not cheap - US $91.30 each from HC /HK. Before adding postage costs.

Brought mine from a LHS - - - just in case.
Cost a bit more than buying from HK.
But much better service & back-up that way if they replacing by the importing agent.

Hi,

To have the VERY LOW price from HobbyCity for the INO-LAB HGD digital 260MG MetalGear Servo, you MUST add them to your cart. The price is yet about $18.80 each.
