i say no, rc helis dont belong in the olympics because its a hobby not a sport. if rc helis ever made the olympics they might as well throw in guitar hero and basket weaving in there too.

No, I don't think so. As dedicated and talented one must be to perform 3D to the level on-par with an Olympic performance, it still all comes down to judging. Judged events are the dodgiest ones in my opinion... too much room for error, far too much room for politics -- oh my heavens the politics. While I occasionally enjoy watching a good performance, I've never really been entirely convinced that figure skating should be part of the Olympic competition schedule for that reason. I've an aunt who was involved most of her life in FS, and yeah, like it or not politics and its related gremlins figure heavily.

Not to mention the possibility of electronics sneakery -- sure, 'roids ain't likely to help you fly well, but that little magic black box on the side of your heli frame just might. Sure the label says "gyro", but what is it really? Regulatory nightmare!

Events that are timed or scored are ideal. Clocks don't lie, and can't be threatened or bribed. The same can be said of curling stones, since we're on the topic.

All that said, I'd certainly be making sure to watch if R/C helis made the list. Finless for colour commentary!

You obviously have never seriously competed in a shooting sport.

The top Olympic shooters actually stop their heart to reduce the disruption to the shot.

I would be happy if there was a weekly show. I know there was some sort of RC show a number of years ago, but I never watched it.

And no, I don't think it should be in the Olympics.

Do we really want massive mainstream coverage of this hobby? Do we want the resulting flood of noobs clogging the already scarce airspace at local fields? I guess the one plus would the glut of used gear for sale after 96% of the noobs wash out...

Thats physically impossible or at least there may be one or people on the planet that can actually stop ther hearts without dropping dead!, slow it yes shoot with timed breaths yes stop it no way, although that would put an interesting twist on the event.

I totally agree lol I sometimes have this very good meal I either fix or pick up during lunch so before I decide on a nice feast during lunch a good tv program will even make it better so I turn the tv on and I see Olympics! Guess whats on from noon until 4pm...CURLING!?!? It literally ruins my perfect lunch and end up watching the Price is Right instead...yes I hate Curling lol

Flying fields are very hard to come by in most cities.. yikes.. if it became a mainstream sport.. horrible..

I live in a fairly large city... Mpls/St. Paul.. 2 million maybe? There are only maybe 5 fields within 1.5 hours drive.... and at peak times.. you just can't fly much as it is.

And NO heli fields. Helis are the minority by far at all the fields around.
