Default X5 Frame Question

Hi, although the new X5 looks very well made overall, one thing about its design confuses me.
The uppper and lower main shaft bearing holders look very solid in themselves, but look very open and unsupported at the front of the heli, especially considering the narrow frames. It seems like the two front servos are acting like stressed members of the frame? The design looks like it could lead to frame flex?
I hope this makes sense as I am just back from the pub!
Eric.

Eric, makes good sense even after a few Guinness'

Even without the servos or main shaft installed the frame assembly is very strong. I did the twist test at this stage and didn't feel any type of movement.

Actually when you think about it, all three servos help somewhat to lock it down so to speak. Bearings are fairly thick /sturdy and will also help with side to side load from the head.
When all pieced together with the inbetween frame bits, is a very very sturdy item. I guess the quality of the carbon helps here.

Hope that helps some
Vas

Hi Vas, thanks for the reply. Good to hear the frame as a whole is good and strong. As you say, the carbon fibre must be good quality too. The engineer in me just thought it looked pretty unsupported at the front, but if that were so then we would have been hearing reports of gear stripping due to frame flex, and I have yet to hear of any.
All the best, Eric.

Totally agree Eric. The HS these can run straight out of the box , the power they put out and the collective punch they have,i think it would have been very apparent if there was any flex going on very quickly

What is the inner width of the frame - the distance between the frame halves? I'm trying to figure out what I can mount and where before my kit gets here.

Thanks!
