Dear sirs, I have a few question about charging lipo batteries. I have 3 thunder power G4 45C 2650 mah. My charger is a Bantam BC8 DP and after my flights (7 min), my cells' battery reads around 3.78v (from Bantam Batt status). If I select a 'store charge' in my Bantam it discharges my battery until 3.7V per cell. Is it OK? Or should I leave the battery with 3.78 anyway? When I start charging them from 3.7 the charger puts more mAh than 80% of the capacity! Is it correct? Thanks for support!!

Evan, let me ask two more things to you! Is it possible to set up the storage volts/cell to a number bigger than 3.7? And which is the best way to set up a charge program to a TP 6S 2650 mah? Bantam only gives 2600 or 2700 mah! Can I use a End Capa value of 102% and get a 2652 mah battery? Or this is not god for the battery? Thanks again.

Hello, what is an ideal storage (discharge rate) with the BC8DP? I have 3S 2200 lipos. Thanks!

Any rate will work as long as you do not exceed the batteries C rating. Basically, set it at maximum.

C rating meaning the charge rating? So if my lipos (2200mah) can charge from 1-3C, I can discharge(storage function) at say 6.6amps? Thanks!

The discharge power is limited on all chargers, so just set the discharge rate as high as the charger can be set. It will hit the power limit and that is all you will get. No where near 6.6 amps.

My BC8DX had an addendum that noted this change to the manual.
For my smaller Zippy, Flightpower, Parkzone, etc. batteries, it seems to be OK -- "storing" at 3.7V/cell tended to take about 75-80% of the battery capacity. For my bigger higher-quality batteries, though, it took out a bit too much. My Turnigy 6S 40C 5000MAH batteries hold their voltage very well, so "storing" from full charge takes out 4400-4600 MAH. 4000mAh is the 80% threshold, and when I fly I really never take out more than 75% (3,750mAh). Despite wishing this was configurable, I must say I really love the BC8DX otherwise -- what a fantastic charger! That screen, the graphing, the history display, etc. is great.

The storage voltage is not adjustable on the BC8DX. Anywhere from 3.7 to 3.9V per cell is an acceptable range of voltage. For your other batteries, just stop the storage discharge once you see the voltages at 3.9 -3.8V per cell.
