I was at the field today and one of the guys said he just read a review of the AR7200BX in Model Airplane magazine and the reviewer said he does not recommend this for large helis. It was made for 250/450 helicopters.
I'm planning to get this for my 700E to replace the 3G FBL system I have on it. Anyone hear anything about this being no good for bigger heli's? He's going to bring the magazine to the field, so I can check it out. |

I think your friend is sadly mistaken. The unit has built in diversity and the ability to use a satellite. People are using microbeasts in lots of large helicopters. The entire Compass team uses microbeasts. The only difference so far that anyone who hasn't tested one is the case and the built-in receiver.
I plan on using one in my 7HV. Scott

That's what I thought, this review was in the latest edition of the magazine. I called my buddy up and we went over the text. The reviewer had one for testing, and he does not recommend using this for big helis. Makes you wounder what he was thinking when he wrote it. I hate when you get mixed info like this on a new product.

The magazine has no clue what they're talking about. It works perfectly in the bigger helis and is a much cleaner installation. Flew a couple trex 700's this weekend with the 7200.

I made a mistake, I picked up the magazine today and it's the January 2012 edition. They are doing a review on the original BeastX not the new AR7200BX. He was talking about adding a Sat to the unit and recommends it for smaller helis when not using an RX. This makes a lot more sense.
I apoligize for the confusion I feel like a goof Good news is I'm going to get the AR7200BX when it comes out without any concerns. |
