Thanks guys, I did get V3 installed from my Mac (OS10.6.8).
Of course a simple readme would have been nice from BeastX. But for any Mac guys, at the risk of repeating (it is similar to the Windows install), what I did was go to http://beastx.com/service_software.html 1) Download anyone of the three Firmware version 3.0 (doesn't matter which one, the Mac will expand any compressed file into the xxx.upd version. 2) Download from the third section the BeastX Update Bundle for Mac. This will make a BeastXSoftwareBundle.dmg to your download folder. It may selfmount on the desktop, but I had to double click it. 3) Drag (as it shows) the BeastXUpdater.app to the Applications folder. 4) Then double click the SiLabsUSBDriverDisk.dmg. This will open another mounted disk image. You can read the releaseNotes, but basically just double click the "Silicon Labs USB Driver Installer.mpkg" icon. This will launch an installer for the USB dongle. Just follow the directions (I just chose all the default choices), but you will have to reboot after it installs. 5) once it reboots, then go to the application folder and launch the BeastXUpdater.app. 6) Plug in the Dongle to a USB port, and then select the USB port in the top drop down menu. 7) Then I connected the microBeast to the dongle cable (system port on microBeast), and put in a standard receiver battery into the "ELE" port. This lit up the lights on the microBeast (this was all new to me as mine just came yesterday and was fresh out of the box (with V2 firmware). In the lower section of the BeastX Updater window, I clicked refresh, and saw that the microBeast version showed up--a little confidence building, as it meant I was talking to the microBeast. 8) The in the middle section, I clicked the Open File button, and navigated to the firmware file I downloaded in (1). The section then shows the app and data version. You should see 1.X for the Target Hardware version, 3.0 for the Application version, and 6.1 for the data version (obviously these will be different when newer versions come out!). 9) Hit the "Start update" at the bottom. When it finishes, hit the "Refresh" button, and you should see the Application version now 3.0! Congratulations---you did it. Now I am not sure what the Micro Settings download is (between the firmware and the upload app). According to the Web page, you can't set settings yet with v3.0, but here it is. I opened it up, but didn't try to do anything with it. |

I did the similar steps excepted no connection to any heli, just RX pack to BeastX and then USB between laptop (XP) and Beast X. USB was auto-detected by XP and update without any issue.

Same here. It's telling me I need to log in as administrator, which is highly annoying because I ALREADY AM logged in as administrator. Grrr.

Try XP compatibility mode, can help in such cases, though i dont recall needing to do that for mine.

Here is a current update walkthrough for Windows 7 with pictures. It can be a pretty extensive process.

It's not about updating to anything new. It is a general walkthrough on how to update.
