Default YGE 60ALV tail holding problem

Hi Guys,

I just upgraded my motor form scorpion 8 to scorpion 6 on my 450 electric heli.

The problem I am having is that tail wont hold on fast collective pitch pumps.

I never had this problem with the scorpion 8 motor. Tail was holding beutifully however I was using a different esc without a govenor mode.

not sure what is casuing the problem

I am assuming the tail cannot hold the torque produced form the scorpion 6 motor which is causing the tail to blow out when i do quick pitch pumps

If I do a slow pitch pump and then let it go full collective the tail tolds its only when I do sudden pitch pumps the tail lets go.

I lost the tail while doing some fast tic tocs and the heli planted into the ground.

I have never used a esc with govenor before so i am assuming this problem might be related to govenor mode.

I have batteries that can handle this motor and my headspeed does not bog during full collective pitch pumps

Could the problem be related to govenor gain if so is this adjusted through the transmitter or the ESC program card?

Is your throttle curve flat? I've just started dealing with a YGE60A esc and govenor mode, and from what's I've read so far governor mode doesn't work well with anything but a flat throttle curve. I've been waiting to see if others would chime in since I'm having a similar problem with my protos 500, although I think mine is more of a tail issue than esc.

What is your Idle up throttle curve? That's a very hot motor and you should probably be using a 11 or 12 tooth pinion max with an 80-85% flat throttle curve.
Make sure you've set the stop and full throttle endpoints properly with the progcard.

Thanks for reply
I dont have program card but using 11 tooth pinion and 77% throttle to give 3350 head speed
12 tooth pinion was too much
I think bigger tail blades might help me
My previous ESC did not use governor and tail was fine so not sure what the deal with governor on this ESC could be causing a problem

The progcard makes things much easier but if you don't have it then you must do a manual setup with the transmitter according to the RC Setup as shown http://elektrorc.com/userfiles/media...up_english.pdf

Make sure it's setup first and calibrated properly.
It's an excellent controller I'm sure you will resolve the issue. Likely just not setup proper.

I got the program card

what is stock P & I gain sttings on the YGE esc?

The MSH yge esc has P - Gain 0.7 and I- gain 0.03 as stock settings

The YGE manual says stock settings should be P - Gain 0.09 and I - gain 0.05

can anyone clarify which P & I gain for govenor works better on a 450 size heli?
