I was wondering if you were gonna flip your tail grips like in the Finless 450 build!!It made life a little easier for me I'm a total stickler for getting stuff as perfect as possible!!

Honestly I haven't watched that tail grip flip section yet but I will be tonight.

Yesterday, I made a YT video with my old Trex 450 Pro (Flybar) with my new GoPro Hero 2 HD camera mounted to it. I have a short aerial video in 1920x1080p HD Resolution.

But about 2 to 3 mins into the flight, the controls were beginning to get dangerously mushy. I had to use FULL cyclic stick movements just to land the helicopter without crashing it. The ~1/2 lb added weight must be too much for the 35A ESC and Scorpion (HK-2221-8) motor.

Setup:
- Original Align 35A ESC (I need get at least a 50A)
- Scorpion 45A motor (HK-2221-8)
- 14 tooth pinion (I need to change to pinion to a 13 tooth)
- Hyperion 2200mah 3S Lipo

that video is nice and i am so jealous of your home in general.. wow. do you think with a 6s setup maybe your problems will go away?

by the way i noticed you have a slight jello effect on the video (especially in the beginning) i am having that as well with a cheap keychain cam, i tried different mountings nothing eliminated it completely.. any ideas?

Thanks for the tip on the 6S Lipo and the nice compliment. I'll have to see how much more weight the 6S Lipo is over my 3S Lipo.

I see what you mean by the Jello video. So, this morning, I tried balancing my Hyperion blades. They did require a little bit of electrical tape to one of the blades. The CG was on the same spot for each blade. So, that was nice.



Before I added the GoPro camera, I had a little bit of tail wag that I was living with. I'm wondering if this is causing the Jello's in the video. I may add 2 iso pads instead of just 1 iso pad underneath the GP780 Gyro. The GP780 seems to be very vibration sensitive.

I think before I try adding the camera again, I'm going probably install an ICE 50Amp ESC because the mushy sticks worried me a lot at 2min 30sec into the flight.

thanks for the comment that sucks about the pinion did you put a flat spot on the motor shaft if not I would definitly do that

Here's my little Align Trex 450 Pro that I rebuilt after a severe crash. It's been through a lot of abuse so I thought this song, "Fix you" was appropriate haha!

The camera setup pics are at the end of the video. This mounting setup is about 50% lighter than my first setup. The heli flies much much better now without the extra 105 grams.

The "jello" effect happens near the end of the video when the head speed drops from the lipo discharging down too far. To reduce the jellos, I flew it in (FM2 - flight mode 2 / 95% throttle). The jellos always seem to come back at lower head speeds (FM2 - flight mode 0 / 85% throttle).

GoPro Hero 2 camera setting was 720p wide angle 170 deg @ 60 fps.

Had to replace these parts from last crash...

Looks nice. Just FYI the V2 canopies are supposed to fit underneath the bottom lip of the battery tray.

Thanks. Canopy fits best the way I have it. I have tried going to the slot below the one in the pics and all the way below. It will not reach the mounting posts.

Less than a minute with a Dremel does wonders, and makes it look MUCH better
