OK, now I am sure most of the Chaos fans know, the Chaos 550E Black Widow Flybarless Helicopter will be released to the public soon. These pics are of an early release to Chaos Forum Members who got on the list. It was a pretty solid build, no different than any of the Align Helicopters that I have built. Some reported some quality control issues, I saw a couple but nothing that a few minutes finessing couldn't take care of...

I picked this first release model up as a gift for my co-worker and friend, heli freak user Jesse T. It was a "Thank You" for giving me the idea to make the "No-Neck Transmitter Suspension Harness". It was given to him mostly assembled as a Bind & Fly, he had to go through everything to loctite it, then bind to his DX7 and setup the BeastX.

This build went together real nice, this model offers some "Upgrades" from the factory like, 2.0mm Carbon Fiber Frames, Triple Main Shaft Bearing Blocks, Aluminum Vertical Stabilizer Mount, all aluminum tail pitch parts and CF tail pushrod. This model also came with 85mm CF tail blades, 550mm Carbon Fiber Main Blades and a real Carbon Fiber Tail Boom. The blades only required 1 piece of clear packaging tape 3/8" x 1 1/2" at the root of one blade to make them static balance and CG balance perfectly.

1 Set- 550mm Carbon Fiber Main Blades
1 Set- 85mm Carbon Fiber Tail Blades

Custom made ABS Battery Tray / ESC mount to support heavier batteries

If you are referring to my pics, this IS an RCAerodyne Chaos 550E, it just has a few Align 600E frame supports and Align servo arms, that is all. It has a wider frame than the Align 550E.

They are not currently available, there was a pre release several months ago. As I understand it the kits are on the slow boat and should be available for sale soon.

Some may wonder why the rear landing skid is white, well I had a crash a few weeks ago and only one of the skids was broken so I took the white one off of my 600 that no longer flies.

Im starting to think rca may have ditched the 550 from their line-up..Was this time last year the talk was out on the upcoming model.

We actually have not. The 550 sold out so quick to the Chaos lounge members that none were left. We were having some problems with the owner of the factory we get out kits from. As far as i know the Factory is back up and running again. But the 550 are defitnly staying with us!

This looks like a clone of the Align 550 V1 - how does the predicted price compare to the Align 550?

It was modeled after the v1 yes. we however made a few changes to the model. As far as thicker main frames, wider main frames for the bigger motors and not have to cut the frames and comprimising them. A tail servo mount to represent the Chaos 700. and a dfc 7075 alu fbl head. Full carbon tail boom, and the kit comes with full carbon main and tail blades. This is one of my favorites of the Chaos helis.. As far as price i believe the kit with blades is in the 200-300$ range

Im sorry Blueram I do not have a eta on the kits, RCA is workign very hard on getting kits over here in the states as soon as they can. As soon as I or any Chaos member heres anything HF will be the first to know!
